Sometime in the next few weeks I'm going to install my Cobra exhaust manifolds. I then need to get it to my local shop to have them reconnect the exhaust. A flat bed tow truck would be expensive. Can I drive my MM with open exhaust manifolds? Or will the lack of O2 sensors cause problems with the engine? If I install them at my home, it will be a 6 mile drive. If I install them at a friends house, who has a lift, it could be a 30 mile drive.

Not to mention possible esphixiation of the driver and heat damage to the firewall and nearby components. The headers dump pretty high up in the engine compartment.

Have the exhaust shop make some turndowns about two feet long with flanges so you can dump the exhaust back away from the firewall and down to the pavement. They don't have to be pretty and he could throw in some o2 flanges too. Could be cheaper than a tow? Other option would be to find a friend with a truck and rent a dolly from U-Haul. Put the back tires on the dolly and lock the steering straight. No milage charges on a dolly just a flat daily rate.

The dolly is a good idea. I think I can borrow one of our company trucks. Thanks.

Or, if you have Triple A, and you're a Gold member, a tow would be free up to 100 miles...
