Silver State Classic Challenge

Looks like the Nevada Open Road Challenge and the Silver State Classic Challenge are the same thing except at different times of the year.

I'll be in Las Vagas May 17 - 20 for a wedding on the 19th. :D I have a rental how far away are the events that weekend?

I went years ago. It is really/strictly an entrant event only. They don't allow spectators anywhere near the course. Unless you enter a car, there is no action to watch.

Guys, you can sign up as a course worker and watch the entire event from the road side.
I've run the SSCC since 98' in the 130 & 150 class and it's a blast.

Go to the website WWW.SSCC.US (http://www.SSCC.US) for info. Safety is the big issue and your max speed allowed will depend on your equiptment.

If you fly out & rent a car you can run in the slower classes - just read the rule book first.

The first time I went out as a course worker just to see what's it was about. The next race I finished 3rd in the 130 class. What a rush! 90 miles of pure fun!

Just a quick question. When your running between say 130 to 160 would you
have your OD on or off? I just can't picture doing over 130 in third gear.

If its an MM, it should be OD off. I was doing a top speed run a while back and at those speeds it keeps flipping in and out of O/D because of the load variance on the tranny. I had to turn it off, and the car worked much better from there on. I am turning it off for good in about a week when the 6-speed gets transplanted :)

Sleeper, All of my runs have been in manual trans cars. However, one of the guys runs a Mark 8 in the 125 class and leaves the OD on. The Silver State is a 90 mile run. I guess if the trans isn't hunting in & out of OD I'd leave it on.
Is anyone else making it to ths Silver State this May??
