Part of the "new cross over SUV" thingy Jack! Half SUV and half car. I agree with you.

Who do they appeal to??

I cannot imagine paying $35-$40K for something you have to disguise yourself to drive around in??!!:mad2:

I NEVER LIKED "STATION WAGONS" PERIOD......that goes for all "SUV's" as well!!!:argue:

I must be getting OLD and CROTCEHTY....Grrrrrr!!!!

Station wagons are OK insofar as at least they serve a useful function. Add four wheel drive and there are useful in the North, too. Cross-overs are Yuppy-status-mobiles. Period. (Well, period in my opinion).

Dumbo is picking Lincoln names with his trunk from a list of MKs...what happened to nice friendly names.. LaSalle, Saloon, Patrician, Laguna, Premiere, etc.... oh well...

The full-width taillight looks lifted straight off the '97-'98 Mark VIII (but without the nifty neon brakelight of that car), the grille is like a weird retro-modern take on a 60's Continental, and the side profile shows it to be a relative of the Ford Edge.

Not a fan.

Lincoln has gone to the dogs. It's butt ugly, seems like they're trying to outdo the ugliness of the Escalade. And the naming of these current offerings as Mk series really ruins the significance of the name. It used to be the "sporty, high performance offering" from Lincoln. Now, it's just a name they're trying to capitalize on. Sort of like calling that other POS a Zephyr.

We have a Ford Freestyle Limited as a 2nd car for the wife. I like it alot. And, I don't feel "yuppyish" in the least. Matching colors though.

Is Lincoln/Mercury the next Oldsmobile?

Is Ford the next AMC?

At least it is cooler than the ultra feminine RX330. Yeah it isn't a car for us but the girls love thoose kinds of vehicles.

Okay, I work at the Oakville Assembly Complex that builds the MKX/Edge. It's not the vehicle for me, but I have driven them and the 265hp and the fact the MKX is quiter than the Lexus does help it sell.
Now everyone go out and buy one, will ya. ;)

I just bought the wife an Edge (loaded) so I could 'inherit' the MM. THe Edge is a quality built car, super quiet and solid. We got the nav system and vista roof, AWD and reverse sensing. Nice ride. Killer stereo, with lots of safety features. nice six speed trans and 265hp...;)

Lexus RX 330 has been regarded as the quietest CUV.

Here is the Lincoln MKX in white chocolate. I think it looks nice. Most Lincoln customers opt for the BAMR (Big Ass Moon Roof). Also an Edge.http://www.carbuyersnotebook.com/archives/07_MKX_CUV_02_HR.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/Canadasvt/EDGE_B.jpg

Already many customized Edge's around. With the base 265hp V6 it's easy to make lots of power and suspension is based on the Mazda 6 so it's also easy to upgrade an already great suspension setup. Did I mention I build the MKX/Edge?

Glad you like it, as my employment and the future of our plant depends on customers like yourself. If, and that's a big if, you have any problems I'd appreciate it if you could pm me. :)

Well, some people in the U.S. must like them enough to be buying the MKX, because Canadian dealers are having trouble getting enough of them to sell. ;)

cheers

Pay attention to the cars on the road today. Notice how 90% of them are ugly? That's because good looking cars just don't sell. Ugly is popular! How else can anyone explain the Toyota Prious? Chrysler sales are going up despite the fact that all their cars have truck grills in them.

Look what happened to the Marauder, last generation Camaro and Firebirds. Gone. GM/CV sales are low. These cars are obviously too good looking for the average car buyer.

I'd list all the cars I think are ugly, but that could get ugly too.
