Jeezeus what a nightmare.
Go to do the axle kit.
Rotors were rusted onto the axles, had to beat em off. Get the axles, bearings and seals out. Time to clean the axles tubes and the diff housing. I take a close look and ALL my spider gears are missing teeth.
I take the center section out, making damn sure to mark parts for reassembly and its off to a buddy's place for new spiders. Disassembly shows all the posi clutches wasted. Buddy asks me if I smoke the tires around corners and I tell him HELL NO, must have been the previous owner. ( No, I do not want to put 4:10's in even though its tore down )
Next day, carrier is assembled, housing is free of metal and missing spider gear teeth. Axles go in, throw new pads on while im at it. I go to back out. CLIK CLIK CLIK. I call buddy and he tells me I have PosiClik and to drive the car slowly in figure 8's to get the gear oil all nice and distributed. Now shes good to go.
$595.00 later, My rear end is quiet and smooth. All done in 100+ degree heat. Tomorrow is my birthday, got some really nice tools as presents.
One axle was really bad, the other wasnt at all. Would I do all this again? Id have to get back to you..........:censor:
