The traditional Marauder owner just a couple of years ago took exception to any decoration that "blemished" the spartan look of the car.

Then came some fender badges. Later grille badge delete and then a reverse trend of God's head badging. Wheels, tires, paint schemes, lambo doors are now passe.

I had to succumb to a trunk lid decal.

We all reflect who we think we are or would like to be. The particular car in your pic's reflects a genre of old school body styles coupled with the latest fashion trend of large wheels and bold paint, usually one color, that is popular in the YBM segment.

As recent as a year ago I could be seen tooling around town in my low rider mini-truck with a "splash" paint job on the hood, dribbling down the grille and front bumper cover. What a difference a day makes. Across the rear window was my logo "Looking Up".

Today I'm living the dream with my Marauder, Silverback.

Turning the wheels or hitting a sped bump looks like it could shred the tires on the fenders. Hey, if it makes you happy, though. Besides, its not as though they've defiled a classisc auto or anything of the sort.

One part of me actually wants to like this trend, because it involves a genre of cars that I actually like (the boxy late 70's and 80's GM a-,g-, and b-bodies). However the larger part of me is against it, because it is stupid (why exactly do you need 30" wheels????), unsafe, and probably will hasten many of these cars to the junkyard once the trend has run its course when people don't want to remove the hackishly installed lifts.

The color doesn't bother me nearly as much as the wheels. Notice the clearance on the rear wheels. How do these things pass safety inspection. :dunno:

They did away with inspections here in the late 90's......they weren't cost effective!!:argue:

You ought to see some of the JUNK rolling around down here now!!!:shake:

This one is actually one of the better ones!!

Yup, I think you guessed right. ....and an added bonus, It's the best color of BLUE out there right now. Most car company's cannot figure out good colors. Also good colors out there :Silver Birch...not just a silver, but a nice blend and the DTR..... Awesome red metalic. And the Black? Can't screw that up. (Have I sufficiently sucked up to all yet? Going to MV5, don't want to get the snot knocked out of me  ).
