The covers for my trunk organizer are near death and I want to make some new ones. I almost failed wood shop in high school, but I want to try to do it my self anyway. I am thinking 1/4" or 1/2" ply cut in half with out the hinges, covered with the closest matching remnant I can find. If you have better thoughts I am all ears. I also want to do a big gods head in the center, which would be on both parts of the lid...how do you do that? I have seen a couple pics from a couple of you guys where you did that to hide your custom stereo stuff, please educate me if you don't mind.
Go to a stereo shop near you and see how much thaey will charge or hit the high school woodshop and ask the teacher if a kid needs a project. Offer to pay for the materials and tell the instructer your tales of terror when you were in woodshop. He just may suprise you !
SergntMac has already done custom covers with diamond plate.
Killjoy has a neat Godshead cover of a sort for the trunk.

John, I love that idea...about the high school...I may do that. Zack, I think Killjoy's might be one of the ones I am thinking of...I just don't know what the best material is for the raised logo.

The raised logo is best made with 1/8" craft foam if small and 1/4" closed cell foam if large. Should be available from local craft store or local pack and ship store.
Buy matching trunk liner from John or buy it from www.partsexpress.com.
Use rubber cement on liner and on substrate. Take your time. You get 1 chance with rubber cement.
Better yet... Kenny (silver2004marauder) or John both do stereo stuff. Give them the dims or send a template. It won't be expensive. I mention Kenny cuz, he's done it and has the templates. Maybe Steve (killjoy) would do it for ya. I don't have the time or facility to do it right now, or I'd offer.
Getting kids involved is what we need. They love it and we become mentors to them. As they say take a kid fishing (I say take him to the drag races) and you will give him something for life. Dont forget we were kids at one time and were touched by adults giving us time!

Thats it! Killjoy, your logo is perfect...now I just need to get it on a trunk organizer cover. Someone else mentioned the idea of using plastic and a big decal and frosting it with backlighting...? Kenny, Steve, John...any of you guys want to mentor a kid? and make a little money? If any of you guys want to send me a ballpark price I will see if I can afford to have you do it...if it is cheap like was stated, I should have no problems. If no one has the time, I will probably take a crack at it myself...I just don't want less than perfection for my car, and I know I can't build stuff for crap. Thanks for the help and all the ideas guys...I am still listening for anything else creative.

...Mac's aluminum tread plate covers were outstanding! A high school metal shop could also make them for you. Maybe also Lazer etch a logo.

I have no doubt the diamond plate would look great...I just don't think I would like that being the only think in the trunk that looks like that...there is nothing else in there to match it. So far Killjoy's idea is winning.
