I was on my way to New Hampshire on business from Delaware and crusin' on the interstate @ 75 and trying to acces my Crackberry. Took my eyes off the road looked up and saw traffic stop-ping in front of me swerved tot the right to avoid the traffic swerved back to the left to straighten out. The back end broke loose and i ended up pointed south going 70 on a north bound interstate. Eventually was stopped by the cabling on the sholder side of the interstate swung back around and ended up pointed north. Damaged right rear quarter panel and right taillight lens. needless to say I don't acceds the crackberry any more while driving.

Ya, thats real personal and I posted it the day it happened, but I'll say it again. I was on my way back from college in Michigan (where I went at the time) in my moms Navigator because my truck was broke (imagine that) and my parents didn't want me driving Da Marauder in potential snow conditions. So I call on my way back saying I'll be home in about 3 hours and the only one home is my mom and my mom doesn't know where my dad is. Well I call and he doesn't pick up his cell phone. He has been known to do this so I don't think anything of it.
About an hour later I get drunk dialed by my own father. "I nnnneed you to pick me up.... ur call is all f-ed up." I go off on him by saying it's the teenage son who is a f-up, getting drunk and crashing the car... not the parent so whos the child? He got really "ticked" and crused up a storm, coming from a guy who never swares at all or wouldn't even say something sucks it was a real shocker to me. So I call my mom and said dad got drunk and crashed my car. Shes thankful that he's alright, but is just as steamed as me. So she goes over and finds him in a police car and my car being towed away. I didn't know he was going to jail so I called a few people asking if I could spend the night because I didn't wanna look at him. On the way back I missed an Interstate exit and it took my 7 hours to get home because I couldn't focus on anything at all.
The next day it took a good 4 hours to find out which jail my dad was in and finding the car was the easy part. The car was impounded and they wouldn't let me even look at the car... I needed some paperwork b.s. to even be in the yard. Well When I saw the car it wasn't as bad as my dad made it out to be. He fishtailed and hit the back right corner and bent the uni-frame for the second time in the cars life. (I did it first.) I kept a spare key in the drivers seat and tried to start it, but it wouldn't fire up, it would crank, but wouldn't start. Yes I was about to pull a GTA on my own car... I was still so ticked that I was not only thinking stupid things, but trying stupid things. In the end the car was fixed and my dad never had a drink since then, not even wine and to me that was better than anything I could ask for. Cars can be fixed or replaced not family.
Now for my story. I was driving on I94 on the boarder line of Michigan and Indiana following my parents and they were in the Navigator and I was in my Marauder. Were doing about 65 and it's dark. All of the sudden it starts snowing... hard, like a white out. They start to disappear so I keep on the gas to keep them in my vision because I couldn't see anything else. The car suddenly veers to the right and the front right hits the guardrail, it spins around (keep in mind all while at 65mph) at a little less than a 180 and goe sbackwards across three lanes and the back right hits the other guardrail and the car shuts off.
Now my car is facing traffic and isn't running so I put on the hazards, cop lights for a warning to other drivers, jump into a ditch and take a long pee. Cops showed up and actually fired it up and got it on the other side of the road. I think they gave me a ticket for too fast for conditions or some b.s. and I actually drove the car all the way back to Chicago. It was a good thing I put everything in my parents truck because everything was destroyed that was in my trunk. I even gave my parents a Gibson Flying-V guitar that I got from Marky Ramone because I didn't want the wood to warp because there is no heat in the trunk. That was the first time the car was "totalled" by insurnace standards. I still love it and will keep it around for a long time.

I was 16 years old (16th birthday actually) sitting in my car waiting to take my drivers test. The person who took the test before me lost control, hitting my car and pushing it into the side of the MVA building.
Needless to say, the guy before me failed, but I went on to take my test and passed.

A few years back when I had my CV I was blowing donuts in a snow covered parking lot with my buddy in his '93 Explorer. He cut in front of me and I slammed on my brakes but a car doesn't stop on ice and I hit his driver door with the left side of my front bumper. I had a scuff that buffed out, he needed a whole door.

#1 - age 16 or 17, driving my '79 Malibu--I stopped a bit short, person 3 cars behind me didn't. Almost no damage (deepened an already-present crease in my rear bumper) to me, more so to the others involved.
#2 - age 17 or 18, driving mom's '86 Pontiac Parisienne--pulled off the highway in slippery conditions, lost traction on the shoulder, rear end came around into the guardrail. Moved the back bumper an inch or two to the left, no other damage. Ironically, I was pulling off to give a lift to some family members who had been in a (more serious) accident in that same spot. Yes, this happened in front of a highway patrolman. He was not amused.
#3 - age 20, driving '91 Accord - started to pull out of a parallel parking space, the car coming down the street thought I was going to stop and bumped me when I didn't. Dented the back part of the fender/front edge of the door, no damage to the other car. A pry bar and a little touch-up paint later, (almost) good as new.
#4 - last November, driving my '96 Lincoln Mark VIII, a guy pulled out in front of me to turn left across a divider. When he noticed there were oncoming cars, he stopped in the middle of my lane, too late for me to avoid him though I did try. His car was pretty badly damaged, and the Lincoln was totaled (damaged about every body panel forward of the cowl, blew out air suspension, broke control arm, cracked one wheel, probably frame damage...) I was unhurt other than an abrasion from the airbag though. While I'm happy to have the Marauder now, I miss the Lincoln sometimes. :(

....lets hear them.
This Car Wreck Story goes back to 1957
I remember this one like it was yesterday even though some 50 years have passed. The family was visiting my grandparents “out in the country” in Maryland when we got caught in a snowstorm. My father had a black 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook, 2 door. As the snow began to pile up, my Father decided to put on the snowchains. Back then chains were a must have item. Normally the ride home was only about 45 minutes; but this time we had to take the long way and stay on the main roads.
We were headed up Mountain Road (MD 177) and there was not much traffic on the roads due to the weather. Just a two-lane divided road with a double yellow line. Speed limit was posted at 50 MPH. We were doing about 40 MPH, I suspect. We had eight people in the car. Dad was driving and I was sitting in the middle between him and my mother on the bench type seat. My 2-year old sister was sitting on my Mother’s lap. In the back seat were my two older sisters and two of their friends. Eight in all. No padded dashboard. No seatbelts. No airbags. We did have a big chrome bumper front and rear.
I was leaning forward watching the road and the snow and listening to the click-clack of the chains whenever they found bare road. As we came up over a hill, a pick-up truck was trying to make a left turn into a driveway. He lost traction and just hung there right in our lane.
My father yelled for everyone to “hang on ‘cause I got him”. He knew that he couldn’t stop in time. His right arm reached across in front of me and he grabbed the dashboard to brace me from hitting the metal edge. During this he was pumping the brakes to slow down and maintain some sort of control. I can still remember hearing the chains break one-by-one as they would grab and release. We broadsided the pick-up truck.
When the dust settled and we were able to exit the car, I was amazed at what was left of the Plymouth. The entire front end was squashed and Dad said it looked like a dead camel in the road. Fortunately, all eight of us walked away from the wreck. I ended up with a small cut on my forehead. I don’t remember hitting the dash; but I must have hit something. The pick-up truck driver was dazed but OK as well.
We waited at a house on a hill nearby while the police and tow truck did their stuff. Dad called my uncle who came and picked us up in a ’39 Buick with running boards. The initial estimate was that the car was totaled; but from what I can remember – since there were no personal injury claims made, the insurance company agreed to fix the car.
I am sure that this entire incident probably took less than 10 seconds; but in my memory – its kinda like slow motion.
I was 7 years old at the time. Some things you just don't forget.

I think we can all agree on that the one where the kid wrecks his Dad's $70k Shelby is priceless.

In HS at friends party. His parents out of town.
Fell asleep at the wheel of a 1965 Olds Delta 88 2 dr 330 2 bbl. It was in good cond, lots of chrome and green paint. I would tell my dates "be careful your door can fly open with out warning". Every single one scooted right next to me!:D
In the middle of the road is a large oak tree and the road goes around either side.
I hit the oak tree smack in the middle. A detective lived on the street and asked if I would be able to back her off the tree or should he call a wrecker.
I started it up and backed her up, parked her next to a friends house.
Had it towed to a shop where they took 3 weeks to give an est, 5X what the car was worth. The owner said take your time and let him know. 3 weeks latter I went out to tell him and tow it off his property for the tow truck to p/u.
He then says I owe him several hundred for storage. I say thats not what we agreed on, he says well I am responsible for it so I have to charge you. I say well then pay me for the battery, spare tire, jack, etc that were stolen.
He says ok we will call it even but get it out of here, I tell him wrecker coming tomm and I am moving it off your property now.
Guess what, it was stolen that nite!

Dec 2 1977 (coming up on my 30th anniversary) :)
I was 19 and going through my Naval Nuclear power training at the plant in Ballston Spa , NY. The town I lived in had a population of about 150 (Porter Corners) and most of the towns around were about the same so it was very rural.
The back road I took to the site had a nice gradual S turn in it that I loved to take at about 75 in my 1974 Mercury Capri.
As I went into the first turn at 75, I realized the road was covered in black ice. I started slowly spinning and I knew it was not going to turn out well. I remember seeing a house and a big oak tree alternating in my mirror and I kept hoping I would hit the oak tree. Well I did.
My front passenger side tire went into the 6 foot deep ditch on the side of the road and slung the car around. I ended up hitting the oak tree about 6 -8 feet above the level of the road square on my left rear tire. Hitting it square on the axle is probably what saved my life. Thank god I was wearing my seat belt.
I ended up at the base of the tree with the car laying on the drivers side. I crawled out through the passenger door.Other then being completley freaked out, I had no injuries.
When the sheriff showed up, he immediatley slipped on the ice and fell on his ass as he got out of the car. He did not notice the marks on the tree as it was at dawn and it never occured to him to look up.He could not see the damage done to the drivers side. So no ticket, he called a wrecker, and he left.
When the wrecker pulled the car out, the driver was shocked at the damage to it. He could not believe I walked away from it, especially after I showed him the marks on the tree.
The next day I was bruised from shoulder to ankle on my left side. When I went to get some things from the car I sat in the drivers seat and noticed the door was bowed out several inches exactly conforming to my left side.
I drink a toast to walking away from that one every year.

The memorable ones:
Winter 1974 or 1975 - Was working at Wayne Lincoln Mercury as a go-fer. Was also my job to drive customers home after they brought their cars in for service. Took this guy to his place of business (was driving his car), after dropping him off, coming down a 2 land road that was a long hill. Going a little too fast for the road conditions, hit a patch of ice, started sliding to the right, over-corrected, started sliding to the left, now I'm the the opposite lane with oncoming traffic. Hit a Monte Carlo and actually tore the entire left side off the car, left front fender, left side door and left rear fender. Fortunately no one was injured.
Summer 1977 - Working at the same dealership, now as a mechanic. Customer brings a Mercury Montego in for repairs. Car stumbled of idle and needed an oil change. After rebuilding the carb, tuneup and oil change, I took the car out for a road test. Was going about 55MPH in a 45MPH zone and a lady in an Impala decides to pull out in front of me. Lockup the brakes, almost made it into the side street... almost. Hit her in the left side rear so hard it bent both rear axles. The Montego had no usable sheet metal forward of the windshield. Customer came back and bought a new Lincoln.
Summer 1980 - Same dealership, same job, went to the lot to get a customers Bobcat. Pulling out of the space I mis-judged the distance and tore the body side molding off the Mark VII(?) next to me. Bad part was the Mark belonged to the owner of the dealership and was standing in the showroom watching the whole thing.
That dealership's insurance company must love you Dude!! :)

I dont know if this counts as a car wreck or not but here goes the first one...
I was about six and helping my Dad work on the car. The car was parked across the street from our apartment. I was going back to the apartment to get something and I guess I did not look before I crossed the street running....then boom I get hit by a VW Bug and I bounce off the hood and land about 15 feet away and rolled under a parked car....didnt have so much as a scratch on me, but was a little woozy after wards.
Second: About the same age and I got into my Dad's '69 Mustang w/289. I moved the gear shifter and rolled back into the car behind me. It made a kink in the Mustang bumper and did about $1,500.00 in damage to the car that I rolled into.
Third: I was 16 and had my first vehicle....it was a Yamaha Razz (moped) I was riding it around my neighborhood and went in to a parking lot with gravel, I made a turn and slipped, the Razz slipped out from under me and skidded on its side. It had road rash marks all on the side and broke the blinker. I also had some road rash but nothing to bad.
Fourth: I was about 20 and did not have a car as mine had just gave up the ghost, so I was borrowing my roomates 9 month old Ford Ranger. I was only about 5 blocks from where we lived going to work. I drove down a hill and was stopped at a stop sign trying to turn onto the access road (feeder road). I just happened to look up into my rearview mirror and all I see is part of a grille and a headlight, then bang....I get hit by a dirverless 18 wheeler with a flat bed trailer and a 3,000 pound counter weight for a crane. The driver had gone to get a hotel room and while he was in ther the breaks let go and it rolled down the hill till it hit me. I got pushed out into the road and T boned an F-150. The 18 wheeler continued with so much force that it broke thru the guard rail on the access road, went down into a shallow ditch, came up the other side and went up the embankment, the trailer broke off and the cab continued up the embankment broke thru the guard rail on the highway and stopped in the lanes of traffic on the highway. I was transported to the hospital and could not get out of bed for 3 months. I was out of work for 6 months. Needless to say, the 9 month old Ranger was totaled. I got a good settlement out of it.
Fifth: I took the settlement money I got and bought a used '93 Sentra XE with 49,000 miles on it. 3 weeks after I bought it I was cut off by another driver in an all blacked out Dodge Avenger. He just barley clipped me as I swerved to avoid him and I lost control and hit the car next to me, and the Avenger driver never stopped. Smashed the passenger side of my car from the front of the door to the back of the rear quarter panel. It was totaled but I continued to drive it that way for another 5 years. I put over 110,000 miles on that car after the wreck and sold it for $1,250.00!
Sixth: I was driving in my '89 Ford Bronco and someone stopped short to make a left hand turn. No turn signal, no break lights. I turn to keep from rear ending them and I hit the Isuzu rodeo next to me. I put a small dent in my fender and crack the turnsignal lens....the Rodeo was totaled. Sucks because I barely hit them. and there was so little damage to my Bronco.
Seventh: The Marauder. An 18 y.o. H.S. girl pulled out of a Jack in the Crack drive way with out looking and I clipped her. But that sory is in another thread some where.

1991, living in Huntsville, AL, driving at the time a 1989 Mercury Sable. Was going home to meet a garage-door repairman, at lunch, traveling east on Weatherly (for those that know Huntsville). There are a few hills, on the far side of one, a light and street to the right. A kid about 18 is coming the opposite way, doesn't stop to make sure no-one is coming over the hill, and turns left in front of me. I grabbed the steering wheel and pushed the brake pedal through the floor (at least that's what it felt like). The impact wasn't too bad, as he was driving a Toyota Corolla, and I hit him in the rear door/quarter panel area. I immediately thought, hey, not too bad:rolleyes: , looked up and saw a utility pole I was closing in on at about 40 mph.:( Braced myself again and hit it head-on. Was wearing seatbelts that probably saved my butt.:bows: After coming to a rest, looked up and noticed I had bent the steering wheel column until it was touching the dashboard at the top. My right knee sheared off the key out of the ignition. Amazingly, I was relatively unharmed, with the exception of sore thumbs from bending the steering wheel which lasted for several months. The Toyota and my car were both totalled:shake: , but at least both of us walked away to tell about it.:P

1979 CJ5 brand new out four wheeling on Cougar Mountain outside of Issaquah, WA. Four of us in the Jeep loaded up with guns, ammo, & beer. Driving like a maniac on a Forest service road and took a turn a little too tight. Tipped the CJ up onto the left two wheels and was able to hold it so I thought we were going to make it okay. Nope. It came back down with the front end tipping into a flood control culvert (big hole about 15 feet across and 10 feet deep - huge drain at the bottom). Ended up standing straight up on its nose in the hole with just the rear end showing. We were all strapped in so no one was hurt. Climbed out and were able to hail a state trooper who called a tow truck tall enough to fish it out of the hole.
The most memorable part was the sight of the jeep on the hook being lifted out of the hole like some huge fish with beer cans & guns raining out both doors.
The only damage was a bent windshield frame and assorted scuffs and scrapes. Soft top never did fit the same after that one.
