Hello,

From the FYI Department - as well as to help out any individuals here looking for a 2003 Mercury Marauder - I thought it might be interesting to here post any known names and locations of dealerships with large numbers of these fine cars in stock, gathering dust. I'll start and, simultaneously, look forward to your entries:

The website for Maxey Lincoln Mercury in Detroit today shows them to have a whopping 15 - yes 15 - 2003 Marauders in stock!

Have a great weekend!

I bought mine at Jack Demmer LM in Dearborn. Today I saw six on the back lot. Checked the web, it says the have 18!

Also according to the web, Hines Park LM in Plymouth has 10!

Definately time to build out the '03 models. Model changeover is next week...

Ron Tonkin LM in Portland, Or. has a pretty blue one. Been there for several months. They still have the $3000 mark up on it and don't even want to talk about it. I asked, was told "that is what they're going for" I corrected him. The sales mgr. said "well go buy it somewhere else then" I guess they like having the car on the lot, cuz' with that attitude, it's going to be staying there.

This sure illustrates Fords wacky distribution of these cars across the dealer network

Beaman Lincoln-Mercury here in Nashville has a Silver on the lot. (I've seen it.)

Unfortunately, you'd never know it from checking their Web site as a search for "Marauder" comes up empty.

In stead, they have their Marauder listed under the Grand Marquis models with a note in the body style calling it a "Maraduer 4-door."

I've sent their Web guy a note politely taking them to task and explaining their error.

Mad1

P.S. They still have it listed at $35K. Their service guy says he thinks the dealership has sold at least 5 MMs, including mine.

P.P.S. If any of you other Nashville Marauders are on here ... speak up! I'm so lonely!!!!!

As wonderful a car the MM is, and I love mine, it is for all practical purposes NOT a $35,000 + dealer mark up car

Fords distribution has nothing to do with how many a dealer has. The allocation of Marauders is based on the volume of G Marquis' sold by that dealer!
The Marauder shows up as a Grand Marquis, because it IS a Grand Marquis, it has just had a healthy diet of steroids! When you go in to do a dealer search, you go to G-Marquis then down to 300a or 300b build code to find the Marauder!
Crossroads Lincoln Mercury In Indianapolis has 2 Silvers, 1 Blue and 3 Blacks..... and they have a close relationship with Kenny Brown and his fine staff!

North Park LM in SanAntonio has at least 15.That was just a casual count sitting on the front lot.
Blue's,Silvers and Black.

Actually the back log of unsold Marauders at certain dealers is indication there is a big problem with Fords distribution.
Just because a dealer sells a lot of Grand Marquis doesn't mean he has buyers for Marauders.
Dealers out West, even high volume ones, have not received Marauders in the numbers dealers out East have (including the central part of the country)

Same thing is happening with T-birds. I know a dealer out here who hasn't been able to get more than two of them, everyone has sold instantly, and he has at least 35 customers cash in hand, but can't get them.

Every dealer web site I've been at under inventory search does have a search category for Marauder separate from Grand Marquis. Most however have listed all their Marauders under Grand Marquis. This os why people who have posted here have claimed they can't find Marauders listed in dealer stock. The Dealer IT people are not listing them properly.
The Marauder may be based on a Grand Marquis, but it is more than that. There are many more differences between a Marauder and a Grand Marquis than just the cosmetics and engine. Mercury really should have given the Marauder it's own vehicle ID code from the start. Then there would be no dealer confusion.
Dealers who are putting half vinyl tops on Marauders don't have a clue.

Crossroads Lincoln Mercury may be one of the few dealers who understands the Marauder

for this novice question, but I'm fairly new to this board, and I've just bought my Marauder one month ago........when did they start making the 300B's? And what are the differences between the 300A's and the 300B's? I was told that one of the differences is that the 300B's have traction control.......

See this thread: 300A vs. 300B (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3362&perpage=15&pagenumber=1)

300B's started in November. That's when the light flint interior was added.

I wouldn't call the ones I've seen a backlog. When I bought mine about a month ago, they had four. A couple of weeks later, they had none. Now they have a ton. I think they are just getting a last of the model year order in. They must figure they can "dump" them at other LM dealers if they want. 2004's don't show up until September at the earliest. They know that LM will come up with end of model incentives tohelp move them if it is a bad gamble.

That's sort of encouraging if what you are seeing is a "lot" of freshly manufactured and delivered cars.

Some of these bunches of MM at dealers though have reportedly been on lots since last June or July

in talking with people there are a number of factors with sales of the Marauders.

There are still a lot of people who have no clue they are even being made (We've had a few new members here who just discovered the Marauder, and bought one)

Lack of "real world" advertising (a few ads in Hot Rod magazine doesn't cut it)

The poor magazine articles, especially the "Accord is faster" (even though they are incorrect) have convinced some people to not even look at a Marauder

Some dealers have no clue how to sell them. They direct potential customers to a Grand Marquis first, and they guide younger buyers away from them.

Then of course there are those dealers who for many months had large "dealer added value" amounts to the MSRP (some actually still do) and turned off buyers by not being willing to budge on price.

Hello,

Their current websites show Northwood Lincoln-Mercury in Spring, Texas as having - in stock - four 2003 Mercury Marauders (all black) while Park Lincoln-Mercury in Detroit, MI has five (four silvers and one black).

Happy Driving!

RCSignals said: "...Mercury really should have given the Marauder it's own vehicle ID code from the start. Then there would be no dealer confusion. ..."

I feel that the only reason that L-M did not give the Marauder it's own model is for CAFE and/or EPA purposes. Just like the Impala SS was always listed as a Caprice Classic (mine is a '94 and the window sticker says it is a Caprice Classic LS with the WX3 Impala SS sedan package on it).

This allowed Chevy to sell them as Caprices with 2.56 axles and skinny tires.

The small print on my window sticker says that many factors can influence variablity in posted fuel economy ratings including but not limited to options on base car (like wider tires, weight, axles, engines. etc.

Anyway, not to get off topic though. Is the Marauder in 2004 going to cost more MSRP 35,000!

I still think they should have made a BOSS 302 MARAUDER but anyway what do I know; that package was supposed to be available for 2004 on the Mustang Cobra!

If dealers are selling them for 25-26.5K there must be dealer cashback that we don't know about.

Geo, someone posted earlier that, so far at lest, there is no price increase for 2004.

On the Grand Marquis code, I don't know for sure, but I doubt it had anything to do with emissions or CAFE. The Marauder is apparently certified as a ULEV vehicle for sale in CA. That's a pretty good emissions rating

The 2004s will have a unique code, M79

Welcome ik04!

I think silver ones are more rare. But black ones are on the well done side of things :)
