I'm thinking about building up a replacement engine for my MM.
Mine's still running strong, but I want to build something for the future
Not sure about the P/A yet, be it Turbo or S/C, but I want a strong bottom end for durability.
Which block to start with?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Jim, I'm thinking along the same lines. I want to have a built, S/C'd motor ready to go in my MM after the extended warranty is up. Have been perusing eBay for either a complete motor or parts.

I think most of the guys will probably say go for a Cobra motor, they seem to have the best result/durability for forced induction.

Jim,

What are your HP goals? How many $$$$$ do you want to spend?

You could go with a complete Cobra motor but they are not cheap.

If I did it over again, I would go with an MMR 5.0 stroker on an AL block.

Then you have to decide on what to do for heads. I would recommend our style heads with stock cams, a mild port , new guides, +1 valves. If you want a turbo get the heavier springs also.

MMR has a a customer default block ready to ship. 5.0 950 hp stroker on an iron block at 8.5 compression, $3200.

Geez John,

You aren't going halfway are you??

What power adder are you planning on using?

The two i would use are either

vtengines.com

The mod900 4v longblock (302 stroker) at MMR should do the trick. :)

I got to meet the engine builders at VT....
a bunch of slow moving, careful, experienced guys in their 50's who have been doing this their entire lives.
Id go with them.

Jay, Thanks for the reply.
I'm looking for 500-600 rwhp.
But I want as bulletproof as possible.
Streetable, but able to go to the road track when the opportunity presents itself.
It is, after all, the Wife's car...:D
