I personally think that one of the weakest points in the Marauder, as in most cars with automatics, is the way the transmission shifts up slowly off full throttle, and very slowly into a lower gear when selected by the shifter. In my past experience with Fords (C4, AOD), I have always used a B&M or Transgo kit to appropriately modify the valve body. I have invariably been happy with the results; much firmer upshifts at all throttle positions and the ability to select a lower gear at any speed immediately when moving the lever. Actually, I have done this modification to every car I've owned with an automatic with the same satisfaction. Neither company yet has a kit for the 2003 Marauder AODE/4R70W. They list kits for earlier applications of this gearbox in Fords. Does anyone have experience with one of these kits in a 2003 Marauder or sufficient technical knowledge to know if the gearboxes are identical enough that one of these kits will work?
Thanks-
H

Welcome flescher,
Go to Denise's site, see sponser page.
Find the transmission mod section and follow the links.
There's a GREAT (LONG) article on how these trans work and the author spells out step by step how to make these transmissions work.
Only problem I've had is I can't get any info if the mods transfer dirrectly to the Marauder, all the info talks about the T-Birds with the AODE/4r70w .
The overriding theme seems to be "Do Not Raise the Line Pressure With a Chip"
I want to do this mod myself, but I haven't been able to get the facts.

WOW  Cyclone03, thanks for that info on the tranny link! Lot's of good info about our trannies! (and even a couple of formulae regarding stall speed and torque that I never knew about!). I'm only on chapter 2 and it's really good reading!

True. Let me adjust the thanks, then: thanks Cyclone03 for making us aware of that link (I haven't been to Dennis' site in a while) and thank Dennis for the link itself - it really contained fantastic cold-hard facts about these transmissions. I feel a lot more comfortable now with the subtle differences between the Ford and GM transmissions.

That's a typo...he meant Dennis's site...Dennis Reinhart at www.reinhartautomotive.com, one of the site's sponsors and our main source of info and performance goodies for the Marauder...

flescher Welcome - Many members of this site use Dennis Reinhardts Mods. They all seem very pleased with the performance improvement. Dennis is a true gentleman.

True. You've probably got the guy surfing some porn site called "Denise's House of Pleasures" looking for info on trannies.
Now, if he was looking for info on rear ends, then maybe he would have gotten somewhere.....

OK, I'm smart enough to get to the Reinhart site. But cyclone 03 said "Find the transmission mod section and follow the links". I tried all of the Reinhart links butcouldn't find one that led me down the xmission path. A hint please?

No problem,
At the top of this page click on the links tab.
Then Click Venders.
Then Reinhardt Performance.
When Dennis's page starts to load click on the blue field.
Go to products then scrole to the bottom of the page and click on the link under the transmission.
I guess I could have just cut and pasted the link here but I forgot about that tell now.
