Hmm. Maybe I should think about this more, but I have a 'ready to go' 5.0 shortblock sitting in a crate. I was going to wait till the fall to put it in as my motor is fine and I don't need more expenses. However, if its any kind of deal, I'd be willing to volunteer the (existing) shortblock for the cost of swapping in my new big-bore. Assuming a short block is all he needs. Actually, I have the factory valvetrain which I could throw in if need be.
Just an offer. Maybe it isn't a good one, though, so let me know.

All we need to get is a shortblock which will run about $3500.

If the rod stretched, the valve(s) might be bent.

If I was Barry, i would try and get a new set of heads out of Ford because they were ticking. Its hopeless to get the engine, just go for the heads!

You were interested in the trans that's selling on EBay, why not go in halves, you get the trans and Berry gets the motor?

Cause he doesn't want this to happen again with a stock motor.

No worries, you'll blow YOURS up soon enough as well!

My off3er of the shortblock and full valvetrain is still on the table as well. It would only be about $1500.00 Just thought I'd mention it. I could also get it to the border if someone wanted to pick it up.

Forged pistons and rods on the stock block and crank are, allegedly, still up to the challenge for about 700hp.

I was not sure if Barry's email was set up for Paypal, and I knew mine was.

I have never recived any money through Paypal, so I knew anything coming in would be for him.

I will get w/ Barry, and see if he is set up to receive funds from Paypal.

....it's embarrassing.

But I want to thank Stevo for the gesture, and those of you wanting to 'provide'.

I have participated in several such endeavours since joining this club.
I even started one. We raised money to fly a member to an MV event...a member that didn't have a MM, and liked by a few for his young enthusiasm.

I realize the first time we did this, well before many of the current members time here, we raised enough money to replace a members motor with a stroker. When word got out on the net, folks thought our group was nuts!
Some of our own group thought we were nuts. I mean...what are we gonna do? Replace everyones motors when they blow...many suggested how easy it would be to take advantage....

Whatever....

The first was the last. Something like that cannot be repeated. It takes away the true meaning of the favor we did. We did it because we were a unique club, different from all the others out there. We had a true respect for each other, and acted very civil online unlike other sites as required by Logan, and as is continued to be required.

I sure will accept any donations. Hell yeah, as I am willing to help others as well.

Thanks you guys....THANKS.;)

I am scheduled to tow the MM to Indiana on the 8th of June.

I will keep those interested in our adventure and findings updated throughout.

I want to say that I am quite appreciative to those that support this effort. The help is overwhelming. The tow bills and trailer rental alone total over $600 thus far.

And thanks to your generous donations, you supporters have covered that!

Thank you!

I want to formally thank all of those on this site that helped me with this project.

Thank you to ALL of you that contributed. Your gifts were truly appreciated, and I hope to help the next person in need as well.

Total motor costs including labor were $4650.
Misc tow bills and dealer visits $625.
Site donations $900.

See my garage link for motor details.

The car runs very similar to as it did before. No more tick, but now I get piston noise with the Diamonds. Aside from a greatly needed tune that I will undertake later this month, she runs well. I don't have that bat out of hell launch from a dead stop I once had, and I cannot use the NOS yet, but hopefully Lidio can correct all of those little issues.

Thanks again, and it is really nice to prowl the neighborhood again. :cool4:

On a side note.... we MAY be adding another MM here in the Central Ohio area.... a Dyno Owner at that ;)

We'll see...

10.2:1 compression.;)

...and I must clarify: I have piston noise under the car. In other words, if you are not underneath on a crawler while its running, you don't hear it. The headers seem to resonate the sound a set of manifolds might otherwise not.

is that noise like a slight knock ? i hear mine when i'm near a cement wall idling, has done it ever since the car was bought, 15000 miles ago
i always wondered if that is normal with a stock engine?

No. We do not have the same motors at this point.;)

I used to have the cam "tick" from day one however.
Search the forums for "TICK" to learn more about that common issue with early builds and 300a's.

So this noise is normal? If not this can be fixed by Lidio just by tuning it?

piston noise is dependent on the piston to wall clearance the builder set it up with.
A good clearance is .003-.0035
