There is a lot of talk about potential gains made from the installation of cold air intakes, particularly with the addition of a tune. However, most of the gains quoted as are slightly lower than the gains advertised from some of the performance tunes alone. I have Lidio's tune, which unless I'm mistaken, is advertising added gains of up to 20 RWHP in the mid range, along with 20 ft lbs. of torque. This is higher than what most are showing from a CAI and a tune. Is it probable that the majority of the gains realized are resultant from the tune, with little contribution from the CAI? Should the addition of the CAI and tune not yield more gains, if the aforementioned gains can be had from a tune alone?

All the dyno sheets I recall being posted show a CAI added after a tune and hence the before / after are of the CAI only resulting in an increase.

Ok, assuming that, then I should experience 10-14 RWHP above what my tune is already producing with something like a JLT? Seems kind of unlikely; however, anyone is welcome to chime in if this is correct, or not.

Thanks

If you feel adventureous go to home depot , and Buy this. You can use a 4'' or a 3'' line, I personnaly use both with scoops on both sides of the inner bumper. you need to cut some of the frame where the origional air inlet is. attach the scoops behind the bumper, and route line or lines up throught the wheelwell. if you are using one line then use the 4'' tube, bring it through the opening you inlarged increase the size of the opening in the air box, and now you have a real ram air intake. And you will definitally feel the extra boost. with 2 lines the beast will rock. if you use 2 lines run the 3'' into the bottom of the box, you will need to do some cutting in that area to route it up to the box.be careful as these flexi lines are paper thin when extended.:flamer: :banana2: I POSTED SOME PICTURES IN THE MAIN CATAGOREY UNDER THE NAME RAMAIR. IF YOU NEED IF YU DON'T SEE THEM I WILL EMAIL THEM OR POST THEM AGAIN. GOOD LUCK :help:

After my first tune - which showed a steep drop off of power after 5500rpm most likely due to air inlet restriction - I installed the JLT and then retuned for a gain of over 10 hp and eliminating the drop off at the top end.
