Well a couple of my wheels are stating to frost...clear coat is looking flat in spots...cloudy no shine...
Probably my fault...didn't wax as often as I should...:depress:
So are there any short cut restorations...?
Any suggestions....
1.Polish all the coating off...and then continue to polish from now on...:(
2.Polish off just the bad areas...and touch up clar coat...
3.Shoot self in foot for being so dumb...

you can bring them to a wheel shop and have them refinished or just buy a new set

Try this, I know it goes against logic but it will help (I have done it twice).
Buy a Mother's Power Ball and some Mother's mag wheel polish (small round container) and get you power drill out. Spend a good 5 minutes on each wheel and then clean off residue and re-wax wheel. You will be amazed.

Basically this is doing the same thing as rubbing compound on paint. Actually, the grit in the metal polish might even be FINER than the grit in rubbing compound.
I would suggest rubbing compound since the rims are clear painted. Although, there's no denying Mike's practical knowledge.

If you decide to have them stripped and polished out, I believe POR-15 and Eastwood both sell a completely clear product that you can use to clear them and protect them. The POR-15 stuff is indestructible. I used some of on the rear of the bumpers on a 442 I restored. When I opened the can, I thought it was empty, that's how clear the stuff is.

My local wheel refinisher Polishes them, and puts a clear powder coat on them.
