Friday night we drove from Orlando to Daytona to dinner with friends, then back home later in the evening. Discovered next day when leaving for lunch that the firggin drivers side fog lamp had fallen out of its mount and burned a hole completely through the bumper cover. Yep, bulb head was sticking out through the bumper cover, with a patch of soot on the outside. I guess the bumper covers (luckily) are fire resistant. I spent a bunch of bucks a year and a half ago getting the brmper repaited from damage I bought the car with. So this really really ticks me off. Perhaps this is my payback for letting a blind, retarded mechanic (me) change out the bulb.

I had a similar thing happen. Saw the fog was 'out' when behind a pickup so I didn't run 'em 'till I bought a bulb... only to find out it wasn't the bulb.

I don't know if it is available yet. But there is a substance that is being used by the various military's that is fireproof. It is made by a guy named Maurice (pronounced Morris) Ward. It is called Starlite plastic. He was supposedly working on a spray to put on furniture to keep them from catching fire from careless smoking ... It might be something to look for if you need to insulate a potential fire hazard.
Starlite Plastic is not areogel or solid smoke or astrolite.

That sucks. I cannot believe that it's this common of a problem. One member reported it happening to him TWICE. Looks like a bullet hole.

It's because you went to Daytona. Daytona is bad luck.

How freaky.
At least there was no fire, and the hole is mostly to the bottom.
