About a week ago, my 17 year old daughter had annonced me that her 8 members team won the canadian competition (90 entries from all over the country) to be able to participate in the next J8/G8 meeting in Wismar, north east Germany the first 10 days of June. She had work on this since ~ 3 months.

The J8 (Junior 8) competition is held in all 8 G8 countries and allow the winning teams to meet and suggest their views about the future of this world on the given topics. During the 10 days event, they make forums and have a chance, near the end, to meet with our eight Prime Minister/President. A really great experience for those teens. This year, the J8 teams will be lodged on the DAR-MLODZIEZY, a 110 meter long 3 masts ship on the Baltic sea.

Below, the USA site (you guys winning team is from California) and the canadian site for more INFO.

Wow, give her big thumbs up.

In College I was involved in many aspects of Student Government, Student Activity Allocation Committee, Fraternity, and the National Model United Nations (http://www.nmun.org).

It just so happens that I was assigned to the G8 (Group of 8) committee.

You spend the whole yr. studying the Country that you are assigned (every University that participates is assigned a different Country every year) and represent them in a week long event at the United Nations in NY.

Great fun, very interesting and you get to meet people from all over the US and abroad (50% of the participants are from outside the US.)

I know you are proud of your daughter. It sounds like the G8=J8 is a pretty big thing, so I'm proud of her too. Give her a high five for me.

P.S. you could tell us her name. Then we could be a little more personal.

Anyhow, congrats to what ever your daughter's name is. Sounds like she's a great kid.
