Has anyone gone to 4.56's for more line quickness? I've got 4.10's, but was wondering about even steeper gears to get moving. Thoughts?

Very quicl for 1,000'.

I did the switch. You lose some top end but you gain a lot off the line through mid range RPM. I added a Trilogy on top of that setup and the thing is like a scalded cat off the line. :coolman:

I own BillyG's old car. I like the 4.56's for acceleration, but turning 3200 rpm at 80 mph does hurt the mileage. I am planning to switch to lower gears sometime this summer, but I can't decide between 4.10's and 3.73's.

I took about a 3 mpg hit on highway mileage just going from 4.10s to 4.30s. Think about twice that going from 4.10s to 4.56s, ouch.

I'm seriously considering it, after all, it's the 0-60 times you feel on the street. Our cars have plenty up top, it's the low end getting the beast moving from a stand still that's hard. To me it's very much like spending so much time worring about your drive off the tee box, and not putting the effort into the putt. You putt much more than you drive. Going 110mph is fun but just for a minute, getting to 60mph can happen on every on-ramp and at every stop light. (at least to 45mph) :-) (of course, if you've got your panther on the highway everyday to work, forget everything I just said)
