Charlie, there a couple of DAMN fools running a run-whut-you-brung at the old air strip at Gettysburg. They just drive up off US 30, pay the guy and line 'em up. No insurance, no inspection, no rules, no nuthin. It's mostly ricers, but since it's a pinks type of operation, there's some very fast cars showing up, many of them hardly highway legal.
Barb & I got into a mini-convoy of rice headed for there, and doing crazy stuff, last summer, on our way to the carpet store across the highway. The store owner was outraged at the goings on. Hopefully it's shut down, by now, but I'm not sure.

Actually, I think our little track meet was a bit safer (but not too much), We didnt have spectators within the first 1/8 mile of our private track and the spectators we did have, were farther away from the action then these people.
This looks like the same type of people that sit in the very first row of a demolition derby.

I wonder why the "safety tape" failed?

I read in the Post Gazette that the 11 year old boy that was injured there was taken to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.
I hope everyone is okay. I'm sure the driver is devastated by what he did.

The most important thing is that all spectators involved will survive with no physical disabilities. I'm praying for the 11 year old and his parents.
On a side note:
Maybe the Camaro driver had his "supercharger bypass valve" disconnected and could not handle the extreme instant power ;)

Looked like a really poor driving job. Guy should've gotten out of it when he started getting out of shape.

Indeed, maybe you can throw in a awful cliche line to explain what the power feels like ;)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Looks like he laid on it thinking he could straighten it out. He was wrong.
Too bad this happened. :( The organizers didn't think this through very well as far a safety distances and positions. Hope all the injured don't suffer any permanent injuries ... especially the young boy and pregnant woman.
