The second one is a scam also (A friend got suckered into a more realistic one) you get the money order or whatever they send you and deposit the money in your bank then cut the scammer a personal check or something that is guaranteed money for him. After that the bank finds out the money order was fake and that money gets taken from you so you are out double the value of the fake payment.

I had a string of very hard to stop hackers for a while. I traced several of them, including one which I traced to Korea and one to Russia or Uzbeckistan or something.

I used to use multiple Stealth ip and other hidden gateways and programmes plus some sophisticated trace programmes. Back in my Server security days.

Anyway my EMail address was picked up by a black hat server, once, by accident and now I get these emails.

Another reason why I advocate the 6 month fresh format.

Yea, after a while, you get to know the 'template' for Nigerian Spammers. Here's another one:

----------------
Quick! Tell Everyone You Know And Even People You Don't Know

* If you receive an email entitled "Bedtimes" delete it IMMEDIATELY. Do not open it. Apparently this one is pretty nasty. It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer.

It demagnetizes the strips on ALL of your credit cards. It reprograms your ATM access code and screws up the tracking on your VCR and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CD's you attempt to play. It will program your phone auto dial to call only 900 numbers. This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank.

IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING.

It will drink ALL your beer. FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU LISTENING?? It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company! It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with Rogaine.

If the "Bedtimes" message is opened in a Windows 95/98 environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub.

It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, it will also refill your Skim milk with whole milk.

******* WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN. *******

And if you don't send this to 5000 people in 20 seconds, you'll fart so hard that your right leg will spasm and shoot straight out in front of you ,sending sparks that will ignite the person nearest you. Send to everyone.

I work in the e-commerce field and can tell you that folks using these kind of systems are likely missing a lot of mail that they would otherwise actually want due to the originator NOT responding to the "challenge". I see hundreds of these a month landing in client inboxes and they all go in the bit bucket without exception.

Of course my clients have warnings that they don't respond to these all over the check out process (plus instructions on how to whitelist using the top 4 services) but they still get maroons who claim they never got their receipt, tracking info, responses to return requests, etc (all emailed).

Not that YOU don't know how to work it properly, :D but MOST don't. They don't understand that they have to whitelist an address/domain BEFORE the mail they want is sent.

While it may cut down your spam, it isn't a reliable or efficient method for legitimate processes that are largely automated nowadays (i.e., no human reads your challenge).

The more insidious ones are the "PISHING" scams trying to get you to surrender your PAyPAl and Ebay account numbers. They usually warn that your account is about to expire and needs to be updated. Sometimes they will tell you the first four numbers on your credit card, and look VERY legitimate. Neither PayPal nor Ebay does buisness this way, and, apparently are helpless when it comes to do anything about these scams.

I've reported pishing attacks to both companies, as well as state and federal authorities, but apparently, all their resources are engaged in sting operations to stop and prosecute porn offences.

I'd suggest you not waste your time reporting such attacks, just delete them, and.....DO NOT RESPOND!!!! :banned:
