Wow, what a day at Safford Lincoln-Mercury for their annual Father's Day weekend celebration and car show. There was a very good showing of CAM members from across the region. Rich Long made the drive down from PA. usamusl drove up from the Shenandoah Valley in VA with his family. There were about 12 Marauders in all out for the event and representing MM land. Welcome to MarylandMarauder and his son with matching black MMs. Joe Walsh drove his '65 Cobra replicar and answered questions and opened the hood all day. Rich says it ain't got enough room. ;)
GordonB's wife Joan took runner up with her Blue MM in the Marauder category. The 1st place Marauder plaque went to a '65 Park Lane Marauder.
Rich Long, ggt4, and SWOOSH were able to pick up door prizes during the drawings held throughout the day. Unfortunately, no one in our group hit any of the big cash prizes .... not that we weren't trying. :D
sweetair was there with his young 'uns and ctrlraven was there with his new wife. Tom Doan made several appearances and was running between the dealership and his house checking on the BBQ.
A potential new member who frequently visit using the "Guest" handle also made an appearance. Keep your eyes peeled for the arrival of Lurker99 a screen name that we voted for him over at Tom's after the show. ;)
Here's some pics of the day .....

Following the celebration at Safford, Tom Doan invited everyone over to his place for the 2nd Annual Backyard Fest. Tom is trying to outdo himself from last year. This year's fare was a pig roast in his very own special roaster. Nearly 80 pounds of spiced pork had been cooking all day while the rest of the gang browsed the show. Several of the Marauder gang showed up to enjoy Tom's and his wife's hospitality along with about 1/2 the local neighborhood. Of course, there was a good share of adult beverages to go with the terrific spread of food. Thanks Tom. Here's some more pics of the after Safford event .....

What a fun day it was. Good seeing you Charlie. Blue is looking good. Nice meeting Rich Long. We had a few laughs throughout the day. I really like that trunk organizer. Marylandrauder and his son were a nice addition. I gave them a ride after the show and a taste of what their next mod will be. That would be some kind of power adder. I think I convinced them. Joe W. the Cobra looks great. Very clean is the best decsription. I had a fellow Germantown MM owner right next to me, the Procharger is a nice addition. Gordon B. Get the oil chute installed, you really will appreciate it. Tom, sorry I couldn't make it to the house afterwards. I need to book it for next year today on the calendar. June 14th, right? Charlie, thanks for posting the pics. Great job. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. See you guys soon.........................B ill

BTW Tom, nice attention getter before you pulled in, I think everyone there turned to look to see where that loud whine was coming from, I know I did lol.
Here are some pictures I took.

1st pic is "Best in Show " winner
1967 Comet 202 427 R code 4 speed with 19909 miles on it.
This car was plain, stock and nasty! Very nice!
Then there's a shot of Joe Walsh showing off his Cobra build book to a Gordon and a couple of Russian freinds of Tom Doan's... we offered to shove a 427 in their red MG convertible for them.... but I think they declined.
Then there is the "Guest of Honor" at Tom's.....
after marinating for hours and then roasting for a few hours in that interesting cooker from China ( hmmmmm... how'd he get that?) we were served a pork, rice, bean, salad.... well you'd have to taste it to believe. The sauce was spice but not obnoxiously so, the meat was tender, but you knew you were eating a well prepared delight!
Then there was the beer on tap.... (if I'd have been staying over, we'd have killed that sucker!) I had a shot of an interesting Vodka with Buffalo grass..... different and memorable.
Tom, Thank you!
For those there, good to see you.
For those not there.... oh my.... you missed good food and talk.

The car show at Safford LM was a very nice event. The put on quite a spread, dog's, burgers, drinks. Very car and people friendly management and staff.
Even though a 65 Marauder won "Best Marauder" ( I feel that it was due to the "antique/classic" nature of the show) I had a good time, even got some business work done!
I got to explain to many my Snow Methanol setup, my cold air box with ducts, how I put the battery in the trunk, why I had so many gauges, the big relay by the master cylinder, and that was fun, even after the 10th time.
But the biggest fun was having to guy's who made fun of my custom sheepskin seat covers on line, eat crow as they put their skinny butts on the furry comfort that is real sheepskin!!
Shagadelic my azz!!

I had a great time yesterday at the Safford L-M Car show and at Tom's excellent Picnic/Pig Roast.
Tom, Thank You! You outdid yourself this year!
The pork, cole slaw, beans, etc. were delicious!!:bows:
I took it easy on the beer keg, as I was driving home and wanted to avoid any run-ins with the "Gendarmes".
It was good to see fellow CAMmers and have some time to hang out together.
We had a good contingient of modern Marauders at the show.
Rich, I'm glad you made the trip down to join us!
I got to see your awesome, though lightly modded, Marauder!
I stand corrected on my "furry" seat cover opinions.:o
BTW: Next time we'll have to borrow Tom's engine hoist to lower you into the Cobra's driver seat!

Yep, its time to get registered and book your room for the Marauderville festivities. The reserved room rate of $75 per night at the hotel will be changing in about 2 weeks. And, it ain't gonna get "cheaper". :D Plan on early days and late nights hanging out with fellow MM owners and sharing stories. It's gonna be bigger and better than Safford all around.

Hey guys, had a great time at Saffords. I really wish I could be like the crowd and had my hood open, but I guess I should check under there more often. I am glad GG didn't open it without me knowing (I'll lock my doors next time).
Tom, had a great time. After my feet cooled down (from the ashes) and thanks to the beer, times got better from there. The pig was DELICIOUS! Thanks for the invite and I am of course looking to next time.
Thanks again and it was great meeting all the guys. I am actually thinking about maybe one mod (INTAKE), we'll see though!

Yes mod now grasshopper! If you need any tools or help with anything let me know. My shop is up in Elkridge (right up Rt. 1) and is somewhat air conditioned at least when the bay door has been closed for several hours lol.

I think your starting to turn to the dark side. Be warn once you start modding it will become like a sickness or like an addiction to a drug.
I've got 6-7 mods sitting in my garage just waiting to be installed lol.

Joe Walsh made a little noise and squeal leaving this year in his 427 Cobra. The black marks are still in front of Tom's house like they were done yesterday instead of last year. No major smoke though.
