Was it normal for people to throw on a PI badge on a CV LX? I'm looking at a 2001 CV LX because I can't afford and wouldn't be able to treat a MM the way it deserves :( Either way, this CV has the PI badge, but the VIN and features all say LX Sport. It's got 63k, leather, alloys, and it's in good shape. I'm trying to get it for 8500. Here's a link to an identical model

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=22&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-leather%7CE-ALL%7CM-_14_%7CH-%7CD-_169_%7CN-N%7CR-10000%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CY-_2001_%7CX-popular%7CZ-28314&aff=national&paId=232389766&recnum=6&leadExists=true

Also, could someone run an OASIS report for me on this? The VIN is 2FAFP74W91X195750.

Thanks!

PS - anyone want to buy my old 88 Monte Carlo? :)

To answer your question, yes. People throw PI badges on everything, hell I saw one on an escort, and the escort had v8 badges too.

Several have PI badges and the look-alike 'Panther Interceptor' badges on MM's. Go by the VIN, not the badging.
PM RoyLPita for the OASIS.

I owned a 2001 CVLX that had large INTERCEPTOR lettering on the rocker panels and on top of the engine cover under the hood. VIN was stock CVLX, it wasnt even a Sport or cop car. It wa slike that when I purchased it with 8k miles off a dealers lot.

I saw the V10 badges on a 4 cyl Dakota.

Roy, I just sent you a PM for the OASIS report.

I got it. It has a long history that will take time to list.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm going to test drive and possibly pick it up later today after work.

I would talk the gentleman down on price. 8500 is Very high for that car. However, if its what you want, then no price is ever too high :D

Just as a little perspective, here are 2 Panther cars just bought by my family:

- '03 CVPI with 108,000 miles - $5300 with 2 year power train warranty
- '01 CVPI with 157,000 miles - $4500 out the door with excellent paint and clean interior.

And another that we looked at:

- '03 Grand Marquis LS with 37,000 miles - listed at $12,000, so room to haggle on down.

Yes, both are ex-cop cars which means a little more wear and tear and both have more mileage, but I think you should be able to get them down further.

I got it :)

I ended up at $8900 for it. Especially after the drive and further look at it, it's in amazing shape. It's like new, honestly. I think the only option missing is the sunroof. I'm 6' 5", so I wanted a "big man" car, and I couldn't be happier. The MM was just a bit too far out of my $$$ comfort zone.

I'll give it a little while, then start looking at options to give it a little more oompf :)

Thanks! Roy, on the OASIS it mentioned the autostart module a few times Does that mean the car has it enabled and ready to go, or that it simply has the potential to have autostart. The fob I have doesn't look like it does autostart, and no one mentioned it at the dealership. I also need to get the keypad reset for the keyless entry, because they didn't have the code.

I keep uncovering more goodies on this ride :)

Congrats on the purchase. I'm not sure how you can reset the keyless entry, since I still don't know mine to my MM. And I cannot find the number anywhere on my car.

Holy hell I just noticed you're in MA. That's awesome! P.S. how much are you selling your Monte for? Pics? Mods? Also, on your CV you just bought, didn' the LXS' have 17" wheels? Or was that in '03+?

No, I'm not in MA. I'm in Fayetteville, NC. I'm selling the Monte for $3000. It has a new tranny and carb rebuild in April, total AC system rebuild/upgrade in 05, new tires, and only 94k on it. Here's the car domain for it, but it hasn't been updated in a while. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/861125

On the CV, it has the 17" alloys. The first post in this thread has a link to a cars.com page which is identical to what I bought.

Ohhhhh, I thought you bought that one, and I noticed it's in MA. Nice Monte, too bad it's not an SS.

Both of you guys need to remove your driver door panel to see the keyless entry code.

As for the autostart, you might still have it but I have no clue on what it takes to make it work.
