Nowadays folks call everything muscle cars. Back in the day "Muscle Cars" were intermediates (Chevelles, GTO;s ect) or bigger cars (Fury III s with big motors, 427 Galaxies ect). Mustangs, Camaros, Cuda's, Challengers were "Pony Cars". GT40's, Cobras, Panteras ect. were "Sports Cars." Times are a changin...

I have to say my opinion on what a muscle car is is this:

Holds at least 4 people legally
Has a big engine
Chrome bumpers
and finally is as long or longer than a Marauder

My favorite would have to be a 1967 GTO, red. I think Mopar made the best muscle because at a close second is a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner.... mmmmm wish I had one now.

Ford should've ended it all and put the 427 SOHC in a Mustang and sent everyone home to MAMA. It's a shame the HEMI is still the most revierd engine of the day. People don't know the SOHC made over 600 horses.

The original 426 Hemi was the king, but are very expensive to build up, in a restored car stock is great. You can build a 440 to make as much power as a Hemi, but more reliable and cheaper. I still miss my little 340 though it liked to rev and rev. :burn:

The best bang for the buck as far as a modern muscle car has to be the 2007 Z06. The car can compete with so many, stock. But with the money saved, a 2007 GT500 is a far cry of a pushover. The only problems with the GT500 is it suffers from to small tires and to much weight (4000lbs. with a driver). Problems that can be fixed with the $20,000 saved over a Z06.

the talledega torinos were 68-69 fastback with extended nose, and a front bumper made from a rear bumper. not superbird-style but more aerodynamic. the Cyclone II was a Boss 429 Cyclone with a pointed nose that looks kinda 80ZXish. there was a feature on the only remaining one in muscle car magazine a few months ago. it had no VIN number as it was a prototype.

She told my dad that was the car because it was yellow, her favorite color. My dad sat down with the salesman and the rest was history.
