I have a '98 CVPI and all of a sudden it will not crank, it sounds like it is not getting fire it will turn over but will not crank. Where do these cars get there fire from or where is the ignition box located. Can i remove one of the coil packs and test it to see if it is firing.

The crank sensor (located by the crank and the a/c compressor) gets its signal from there. However, I had a 95 CVPI that had a worn through PCM wire on the right front frame that made the car not have spark or fuel.

Just my .02 and then some....

unbolt a front coil pack and pull it up and out to check for spark. Do you hear the fuel pump cycle when key turned to run?

Your Car has coil on plug ignition, not coil packs.

Lets start with the basics.

Are you getting fuel? How about spraying a small amount of carb/TB cleaner down the throttle body and cranking to see if it runs. If it does, than its most likely a fuel delivery issue.

If not, you should check for spark next. Are you getting any trouble codes?

I know it has COP's, forgive me for calling it a coil pack.
I reccommended to pull up front on because they are easy to remove.
