Sorry to hear about the inop window.

When you activate the switch, do you hear the motor work?

What I did was to have someone work the switch while I gave the window a tug up and down. Apparently the motor has/had a flat spot and it has worked ever since.

Also, some of the guys here have removed the door panel and rapped on the motor with a hammer ( not too aggressively ) that has worked as well.

Put the interior lights on and try the window, if the lights dim then the motor / regulator is stuck, if the lights don't dim then there is no power going to the motor. If the lights dim get a rubber mallet and as you operate the windows switch rap the interior door panel, not too hard, on the lower art of the panel. You maybe able to free up the stuck motor / regulator. If you have no power, check the fuse(s), window switch, etc.

sometimes if the motor is stuck you can press the window switch in the opposite position of the glass with door open and pull door closing harder than normal. It has worked on more occasion when I worked at FORD.

Probably the window regulator. They're famous for going bad.

press the switch, watch the voltmeter, if it draws down, the motor is jammed/bad. if no movement, teh switch is supect or a fuse/relay. aftermarket motors are pretty cheap. and its not to bad to do. if the ford motor is going to go bad in only a few years, I'd get a lifetime warranty aftermarket unit.

my drivers door switch went bad, and both drivers and back door motors went bad. new ones are about $50 at autozone.

When mine went bad it was the switch. Very easy to replace.

I must have a bug in mine cause sometimes the passenger side window doesnt work, and sometimes the driver side window doesn't work, and sometimes the factory installed sunroof doesnt work. There is a gremlin somewhere in the car.

All of a sudden it's working again. It must've been caused by the recent heat wave in Chicago

Check the switch first. It is easy and cheap to replace. The symptoms you describe are the same as my car had. Switch change fixed it.

My switch went bad and did the same thing.

I guess from Armor All use on the door panel.

Do like was suggested above, hit the switch with lights on and if nothing dims, most likely the switch. OR use a test light on the switch itself to see if you get voltage on the motor side of the switch when you push it.

Sit in the Marauder with all of your accessories OFF.
Turn the key to ON.
Press the window button.

You should hear a CLICK and then the window moves.

If you hear the CLICK and the window doesn't move,
the problem is in the door. Chances are it is the motor.

If you press the window button and you don't hear the click,
it could be one of 2 things. Window switch or Relay.

When you press the window switch to lower the window, it energizes
a relay that makes the 12V contact to supply the door with the correct
connections to lower the window.
When you press the window switch to raise the window, it energizes
a different relay that makes the 12V contact in the opposite direction
to supply the door with the correct connections to raise the window.

No relay click means either the switch is bad or the relay has failed.

Before you replace either, check your fuses.
A bad fuse will keep the 12V supply from reaching the switch and relay.

It's a common problem in the CV's and Merc's. All three of our MM's will do it from time to time and it is more prevalent in the heat. If the windows are rolled up when it is cool, they are more prone to stick when it is hot.

To check, turn all accessories off and have engine running. Rock the switch up while watching the Volt guage. You will clearly see the needle move down, and then back up when the window motor's internal circuit breaker opens. Then try the switch the other way and see if the Volt needle moves down and up again. This is a quick and dirty circuit test. If you see this, the electrical curcuit is ususaly working.

The fix is to open the offending door and rock the switch up and down quickly while slapping the very lower edge of the door panel with the palm of your hand (kinda like the pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time drill). It doesn't have to be real hard, so you won't damage the panel. This has loosened up every one that was stuck. Most of the time the offending window doesn't act up again.

You can make the windows move a lot better by spraying a SMALL amount of WD40 or a dry spray lubricant (if you can find it) on the rubber window track. Roll the window all the way down and spray a small amount in the groove the window rides in. Cycle the window a few times and you will be amazed at how much faster they work.

Do this 2 or 3 times a year and the stuck window syndrome will rarely occur.

If you need it fast the best bet would be FORD, or Ray the dealer (member of this site) if you want used ebay, salvage yards etc...

All of a sudden it's working again. It must've been caused by the recent heat wave in Chicago

That happened to me too on my right front and left rear window.

I also tried this and succeded. Another buddy of mine who has a MM but is not a member here yet had 2 stuck windows. I had him hold the switch down to the stuck one and I opened the door and slammed it shut. It worked for both of them.
