I don't know if it is true, but "they" say the tractor trailer was not supposed to be there in that chase. But left it in because it was way cool. Very cool movie.
That's why most movies of today are crap and won't be remembered like The Seven-Ups and other older car movies, they used real sounds () and believeable action shots. No CGI crap!

If you look close at both movies, Bullitt and 7-UPs, you will see the same stunt driver. He drove the Charger in Bullitt with short hair and drove the Bonneville with long hair in 7-UPs

What about the French Connection, w/Gene Hackman barreling through the streets of New York. Turns out the director did not have a permit to film the car racing thru the streets, but he did it anyway.

Bill Hickman (the name of the stunt driver/actor in both films stated above) also drove in the main chase scene in The French Connection.

Thats not unusual for filmakers to just show up and do whatever they want to do

Holy Moly, it's been so long since I've seen the 7-Ups that I don't remeber much of it at all. But I do remember the scene with the car slamming into the Tractor Trailer. The stunt man died in the one !
Is that moive avaiable on DVD or VHS?

I've got it on DVD, it's out there. You'll find it.
