I suppose I should point out that from about 1968 to 1986 he rode a bus to and from work every day.

Based on the mix and the models, I would guess that he was rather conflicted. '55 Chevy, '66 Mustang, '86 Mustang, and '94 Firebird intemixed with VWs, Chryslers, Plymouths and Toyotas. Doesn't seem to be any clear preference for make or model or brand. Don't think he was a "car guy" at all. I suspect that you were born during his Chrysler LeBaron and Plymouth Horizon period, correct??

How did he lose the Mustang to the storage company?

My Dad drove Buick 4 doors from 1950 to 2000 with the lone exception of one '86 Olds Cutlass Ceirra.

I'm pretty certain he wouldn't touch salsa that was made in New York City. That was my Dad.

Your Dad has me completely confused.

I grew up in the 66 Mustang. I was there when he bought the 78 LeBaron. It wasn't a bad car until the computer went. The Horizon was a great car in the winter.

In 1989 he/we moved to England Work for him College for me. Mom and Dad had a five year paid vaction, I went to school. The Toyota was a matter of circumstance, No real V8's available in England at that time and he picked up the Toyota used with 6K miles on it two years old. He disliked 6 cylinder engines and power anything until we came back from England.

Any way the 66 Mustang was put into storage / restoration with a local company before we went to England, They would restore it but no hurry as we knew we were going to be gone for quite a while. That company was sold and was bought out by the new owners and just put the car in storage for 4 years. Didn't fix nothing and when he and Mom came back to Canada they found a huge storage bill and nothing done to the car. Went to court and they decided to give the new company the car instead of storage fees. Dad wasn't really happy but what can you do.

My Mom was the one who bought the Firebird I guess partly to smooth over the Mustang fiasco and the car was so nice Dad didn't argue.

Only got rid of it for the Subaru when Dad got Dymensia and couldn't walk enough to get in the backseat without four doors.

He would have loved the Marauder. Unfortuneately he passed away 6 months before I got it.

Some of those cars are pretty small ... so, I'd guess that your dad is not a very large man.

Either that, or he is large but not claustrophobic.

he was 5'9" Mom is 5'7". I'm the anomoly being 6'5".

Ironically the Plymouth Horizon, a small car at the time, is now classified as a mid sized car.

The smallest of all of them was the Firebird, on the inside. Except maybe the bug. But I wasn't around for that one.

The Bug was the car to have back then.
