I'm trying to find an SUV/Truck for winter instead, hence I'm selling my SHO. Someone at work is selling this, and I was wondering should I even bother since it has 155k on it, or go ahead and offer him some cash. Has anyone owned one of these with this many miles on it? If so, is there anything I should look for and ask if it's been replaced?

FOR SALE!!! 1996 Ford Ranger, 4WD Pickup!! Extra-Cab, Automatic Transmission, A/C, AM/FM Stereo w/ cassette Deck, Sliding Rear Window, Bed Liner, & Cloth Interior. 155,000 miles and in Good Condition (body rust free). 1 time owner. Asking $2000 or Best Offer! This would be a great starter vehicle for first time driver.

If you want a beater....I would hop on it!!!

Add a few sandbags to the bed.....and it's all good.

I have but that's way out of my price range. If I had $7k to spend, it would be on a blower. I mean it sounds good besides the mileage, but it would just be a DD/winter vehicle. I'm mainly concerned with the tranny/4WD.

Scratch the Ranger, I'm going for a nicer F250 which is a '97, 5.8l 4x4 with a plow and only 125k!

make sure to check that tranny fluid. Plow trucks beat up the transmissions.

My Aunt has a Ranger, it is a good little two person truck.
She likes it.
My Cousin has a Lightning, it is much bigger and can sit three. You will never get three safely in the Ranger.

I just bought a 96 Cheeroke with 4wheel and 115000 on it for 4k. But the thing is spotless. I see plenty of them for sale though.

You're right...you can sit 4 or 5 safely in a ranger.

i've had three in my '88, and three in my '03.

rangers are amazing in the snow. my LOWERED 2wd 88 would chug through anything i gave her...and i got great gas mileage. I would have no worries, as long as the 4wd works. it's not worth fixing if the front isn't engaging.

make him a cash offer of $1300 or less. that's a little steep.

if u are going to buy a truck that ur going to use for TRUCK reasons, ide say go for an f-150 if there are any reasonable ones out there, but if u need a truck for like a daily driver, if u need to haul something its there if u need it, then ide say go for the ranger,,,,, but mention that recall and maybe u can get it for a grand...haha
