Yes it will. You can get a 5/6 speed of proper length from a mustang just like that article.... it is tons of fab work on the clutch though. You'll probably want to run a hydraulic clutch but it's still quite a bit of work.

Alex, there's one additional problem if you're thinking of doing it to your car...so far as I am aware, no one has been able to make a manual transmission stand up under the extra power of a blown DOHC in a Panther...the car is just too heavy. As the article indicated, it's possible, but in the case of a blown MM it's just not practical.

What about Paul's Street Stalker? Granted, that is a very hi performance modified beast, but non-the-less he still made it work.

You would need a very strong tremec to hold the power that a blown DOHC can put out. And one thing i've wondered. If a manual trans is spinned by the driveshaft, which turns the gears just like an automatic. How does the weight of the car comes to factor in a manual trans? Why is it that a heavier car needs a stronger trans to survive in the same power range of a car that is 500lbs. less. I seems to me rearend issues need to be dealt with if anything (gears, LSD, axles). I just never understood this info would be appreciated.

that is the same idea I had but I was also thinking about an 03-04 svt cobra tranny? because I know a guy around my area with one pushing 650 plus to the wheels.

TKO makes a pretty stout 5 spd, who knows if it would mount up differently. A 5 or 6 spd Marauder would sure be fun, almost enough fun to stay N/A rather than get blown imo.
