If money is not a factor, the wheels on the new Escapes look close...allthough if money was not a factor then you would probly not drive the 'raud in Calgary winters??

16" is a pretty small wheel to find a good looking one. Hmmm.

Here is a 16", 5 spoke wheel that is 5 on 4.5". It should be easy to find (I use www.car-part.com (http://www.car-part.com) as a junkyard search engine).

Dodge intrepid ES. The backspacing shouldn't be that far off since our 03+ basically use a FWD backspacing.

Another really common 5 on 4.5" 5 star 16" wheel is the 02-03 Acura TL non type S wheel (maybe back to 2000 is the same)

I personally would use cop steel wheels w/ rings/center caps before a 16" 5 star on this car -- I think it will look really goofy.

IIRC the ones on tirerack look pretty good.

Try some 05 Mustang V6 take-offs, a few dealerships are selling them cheap as people are upgrading to bigger wheels. Also, GT 17" wheels are a steal at the dealerships right now.

You could also go on ebay and get 4 of the fake marauder rims.

There's a bunch here. 16x7.

Look for a +35 to +40 offset.

Some of those wheels don't look terrible, but spending $400-500 just on wheels for winter tire is probably defeating the purpose of what he's doing.

I didn't think of the Mustang V6 wheels, that's probably a better idea.

I agree with the cop wheels (I use them in winter), but I am not aware if there is a trim ring that would fit. Added bonus people on the road will stay away from your car in the winter.

There are trim rings for any of the cop wheels. When the went to the FWD-style backspace, the trim rings got really skinny, but they exist.

LOL you can't. The bottom wheel is a dual pattern 4 lug wheel for Hon-duhs. Oh boy.

Why put alloys on for winter? If they use the same amount of salt like they do in NY you would have to keep'em clean often.

For the winter, I use the CVPI 16" steel wheels. I wouldn't spend any money on a decent set of wheels that see the abuse of cold, ice, salt for 7 months of the year. If I tag a curb or drive through ice rutted streets, I'm not worried about scratching up these. Some Tremclad flat black and they're good as new.

Price wise the steelies are about 70% of the Alloy price, for the cheap alloys. And I would spend another 20% on hub caps.

For 10% more I could just pick up a set of alloys and have my DTR looking almost as good as summer.

You don't have to buy the steel wheels brand new, they are fine used. I'm sure there must be plenty in the salvage yards ($50 each at most), as most of the MGMs' are the lower GS model as well as CVs'. Worse case is you paint them black again.
