View Full Version : I know it's not a Marauder but....

I think it looks better with the Marauder tips, and no more chrome in the bumpers and side mouldings.
Not so much an old mans car anymore.

Man, i deffently didnt mean to sound like i was hating i love the way the car looks, one of the best looking GM's i've seen... I really like the tips and thats one damn good color, btw do you know what GM calls that color?

Looks like crap!

Just kidding im diggin the tips :D

I think if you change the wheels out then nobody will mistake it for an old mans car anymore.

I would lose the big chrome strip on the deck lid (still super old man style!) and the odd deck lid filler pieces, in favor of some CVPI/Marauder black ones. I think that would be a big visual upgrade (to me at least).

I like it. The tips made a nice improvement and the wing helps it from being mistaken as a "old man's" car.

What do you mean by the odd deck lid filler pieces?? Are you talking about the reflector panel on trunk lid with the chrome strip? If you are I actually replaced the original panel with the '06 for the smaller chrome strip and gray reflector instead of red it matches the car color.I replaced the taillamps with the newer ones as well. It would be hard to color match the chrome in the panel as it wraps the reverse lights also. I just wanted to update the look of the car (it is a '98) and not make a Marauder wannabe.
When the time is right I will get a Marauder, and not to start a debate I would want an SB 1st, DTR 2nd, DPB 3rd, and last but not least Black. Not because I don't like black, but on daily driver I swore I won't have any more black cars. TOO much work.

Yeah the reflectors on the GM. Painted body color CVPI/MM filler pieces might look cool.

I always thought it looked great Larry  , now even better with the MM tips. Those wheels on the car now are perfect, and no dont paint the inner space the color of the car, that is what distinguishes it. The newer grey peices go great with that color car too. Looks great the way it is, but if anything I would try to paint the chrome on the back end if possible, otherwise it's fine.

I have seen them before, but I kinda like the deeper dish on my wheels. Now if they made mine in 17" or 18" then maybe........

Larry,
I personally like your car. The HPP's kick butt on there. I happen to like the color, tail panel and lights, and the spoiler. That car has nearly no geezer left in it!

None - the pipes turn down and finish flush with the bottom of the bumper cover. I asked the muffler guy for a factory-look installation, and he did it exactly like I wanted.

One more question, is the car much louder with the magna-flows ?

Louder, yes - much louder, not so much. It has a nice mellow burble around town, at highway speeds it's hardly noticeable, but when you give her more than quarter throttle you get a nice deep roar that's a little mellower than Flowmasters. :burnout:

Overall I'm very happy with the sound.

That's the way I would like it to sound, I have had Flowmasters in the past on my Bronco, and 340 Dart, and I didn't like them on either. Not the volume, but the sound. As long it is quiet cruising, and noticable on acceleration I'd be happy.:burn:

They sound "sporty" without being obnoxious (not that Flowmasters are obnoxious). My neighbor has a Ranger with a Mustang HO 5.0 in it, he has Flowmasters, it is a lot louder and has a bit more edge to the sound, but it goes well with the more radical hotrod look of his Ranger (it has custom body work). I just wanted something a tad more subdued that would be a better match for my "grampamobile".

I have a friend with his Towncar, he bought some beta blocker glasses and everyone thinks he is an old man. He gets away with things someone his middle age normally wouldn't get away with but the old man does.

Don't knock the oldman.

Do you still have the resonators?
Is the exhaust stock from manifold to the mufflers?
What size magnaflows did you use, 14" or 18"?

I had a silver 97 Buick LeSabre with a PCM I had flash tuned by a speed shop specializing in 3800 series IIs, and KYB struts and upgraded sway bars. I would drive on the highway wearing a black cowboy hat.

If you luck out, they will pop up every now and again on CVN or any of the other Panther sites. They come factory on all HPP equipped GM's and CV's. I lucked out when I had my old CV. I bought a set of HPP's with tires that had more than 50% tread life left on them for $200. The rims were in brand new condition, but a PITA to keep clean.

No resonators. The pipes are cats back, with 14" mufflers.
