Well first of all it started back in '03 when the wife and I were dating, we happen to be cruzing the dealer lot and saw this Blacked out car, with the name "Marauder" imprinted on the back bumper. I looked the car over and drooled uncontrollably. I told the wife that one day I would own one and we drove off. Little did I know a short four years later that dream would come true. About two weeks ago I was on my way to work with my tired Oldsmobile Cutlass with over 230,000 miles on it. Driving right at the sun as it was rising, I didn't see the deer cross the road as I slammed into it at 65mph, totaling my car. Little did I know that would be a good thing!

That night the wife and I drove into Brainerd looking for a new car, being as the Bank told us they would give us a much better rate if we bought a 2001 and newer. Hitting the Mills Ford dealership first, I saw it, sitting in the same exact spot it was four years ago, the Marauder. But at 5k over our budget I didn't think it was a reality. That was Friday, Saturday morning I called them back and told them to hold the car until Monday when I could talk to the bank again.

Well Monday was filled with good news, the Bank gave me a green light. After wheeling and dealing with the Jerk of a sales person, I talked him down to 15,300.00 bucks. The car has 46,000 miles on it, its an '03 300A. paint and Body are in near MINT condition. There is one little scratch that the dealer used touchup paint on, its about an inch long and un-noticeable unless pointed out. the interior again is truly flawless.

AND HERE'S THE KICKER!! Turns out it the SAME car that we saw that fateful night some four years ago. The history on the car is very unique. After the car sat on the lot for six months the Mills Ford Company bought it and gave it to one of there executives in the Appleton headquarters in Wisconsin. He drove it back and forth from there to Brainerd. He had the car for a year and a half, then Mills Ford put it back on the lot. The executive drove it 44,000 miles going back and forth. Then Mills sold it to an older gentlemen who bought it to keep as a collector car. he owned it for three years and only put 2000 miles on it during that time. I talked to the sales person who took it in on trade, and he said the guy wanted a new truck badly, but couldn't come up with the down payment, so he traded in the Marauder. And that’s where we came upon it.......

The car came with all the history and paper work, including the original window sticker! It was always serviced at Mills in Brained. They had a complete history of everything that has been repaired on the car. Only two things, a new battery and fixed a spot in the paint on the trunk lid. They put in a new filter, changed tranny fluid, did oil change and put in new brake pads. oww plus they gave me a two year power train warranty with it.

SO...for 15,300.00 how did I do? Here are some pics I snapped as fast as I could as it was starting to rain.....Had to get the baby back in the

Welcome aboard. The price sound good for the condition & miles.

We've got a small group of Marauders here in the Twin Cities. Let us know if you get down here. Use the Twin City Marauders under Forums when you start a thread relating to Minnesota.

I noticed a pic of a police car. Is that you daily driver? We can all use a little advise now and then.

Again welcome,
Curt

You did very well, and it's a grand story to boot. Perhaps you can hook up with the MN guys and make it to Oktoberfest at Seymour, IN this fall

Farmer John AKA Leadfoot, lives up that way, and and as long as you don't bring the other car and turn on the "rollers" he'd most likely join you. ;)

Hopefully you'll find a safe bridge to cross the Mississippi.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the site and your new ride.

BTW, I test drove a 1995 Mustang GTS when it was brand new with 4 miles on it. I couldn't afford it then but....A little over a year later I found the same exact car (VIN and all + mods) at a repo lot nearby. I bought it and owned it for 8 years. As for your price, you did good.

Stop out and go for some rides if nothing else. It is always a good time.

Man, did you get hosed! But as it is things work in mysterious ways. My Grandson, Tiny Tim, was just diagnosed with a ravaging incurable disease. Although he is in a near coma state he cries out for a Marauder. Now, I've always had a warm place in my heart for folks from Minisota, thats where they make the cheese is'nt it?, so I would be willing to help you out and save you further embareassment. I know, I know others on this site are telling you what a great deal you got, but they are kind hearted people(like me!) and just don't want to tell you the truth. So, just for Tiny Tims sake, and to help you out I would be willing to take this MM of your hands before too many find out what you did. Beleive me, It's all for the best. Since my Grandson is involved I would be willing to give you what you paid for it. Yes, I am a generious person. Just PM me with your acceptance of my offer. Have to go now, Timmy is calling.:bigcry:

Hey that is a cool story.

I'm Hoping Marauderville (xx) decides to coincide with the Calgary Stampede in Calgary. Lots to do and see and a short drive for me, although I would be up to ferry people to and from the airport.

http://calgarystampede.com/

I know there are lots of Yahoo's around here, but are there any Cowboys (and girls)?

Yes your dollar will probably be on par and you will need your Passport to get back into the USA, but there are lots of movie stars walking around and 10 days of partying...

Anyway

Welcome to the Marauder family.

Thanks again all for the welcome, and thank you for the compliments on the Trans Am. Been working on it over the years. I built up the motor to the point were it was WAY to strong for the stock TH350 trans, and it blew it up in no time, so now I'm waiting to rebuild that this winter...

Haulness - is this a full road course? or 1/4 mile???? I figured you guys were talking about a test & tune day or something.....

It is a road course day on the track. 3.1 mile track with a one mile straight! It is a non-competitive open track day with instructors, etc. It is the most fun you will ever have with your car.

jdando has been to BIR with his killer Marauder and even posted some awesome videos.

It is a very laid back, all day event. Stop by to check it out and go for some rides.

No speed limits and we have had guys put on 300 miles in one day! The average street car and driver will usually put on 100-150 miles easy, depending on how well the car takes heat (engine, brakes, power steering). One year I had my Impala and Z28 up there and put 100 miles on each car.

Most guys are just plain wore out by 3-4 pm, though, but we have the track until 6 pm I think. You will need to top off the tank around lunch time and possibly again in the afternoon. (many cars will 'starve' under half a tank)

It would be great to see you up there!

+1 to that! I'm in Vancouver, and Calgary would be do-able. Although I highly doubt the dollar will be at par by then. We lost 2 cents in the last two days, and most experts figure on an 78-83 cent dollar by that time. Unless the USA has MORE problems with the mortgage /real estate market, in which case it'll be even lower. Looks like I picked the perfect time to grab my new MM from Tennessee....btw, only six more sleeps til it gets here!:banana2:

Well I talked to the wife, sounds like its a possibility, just going to have to work acouple extra shifts so it doesn't dip into the family funds ya know..... Sounds like a blast! I called my brother and he might come out too, doesn't have a car but he enjoys these things as I do! Does it cost anything for non-drivers to come, other than the $15 lunch? Thanks guys for bringing this up to my attention! Can't wait....... -Chris

Cool! :coolman:

Spectating is free. The $15 goes for lunch and also includes pop, water and snacks through out the day.

Check out the tech sheet and give the car a good once over. I'd recommend a complete brake fluid flush with a good quality fluid and make sure the pads are over 50%. Hopefully, some of the guys that have tracked their Marauders can help out with things to check and brand recommendations. (jdando would be a great source for preparing the car for the track)

See ya there! :burnout:
