Today Im working in Midtown Manhattan on a jobsite when my nextel goes off, Its one of my drivers asking me if Im in front of him on the Triboro bridge. I tell him that in midtown on a job. He then tells me that he saw my Marauder with my exact plate fly past him on the Triboro bridge heading into queens, He thought I was running errands with my car and thats why hes calling me.
Now panic and worry is setting in because my car is at home in my parking lot that I call him and ask him for exact details, He swore that it was my car black, dark tinted windows with my exact plate. OK now I start making phone calls to see if one of my friends can stop by my place and see if my car is still there. If my car is gone and its on the road then they must have broken into my apartment and stolen my keys. I'm even more stressed and more panic stricken that I feel a headache coming on and that feeling in my stomach that only something valuble being stolen from you can cause.
Luckily my girlfriend was getting off work at 12 and I told her to head directly to my place and see if my car is still in the lot. It was probably the longest and most painful twenty minutes of my life waiting to see if Im calling the police or calling my driver a moron, I finally get the call that my driver better get glasses and my car is still in the lot where I left it untouched.

Big sigh of relief but I still have the headache and a few choice words for my driver.

Better put some wheel locks on so you know that even if someone broke in the car wouldnt move.

Or sit it up on blocks and hide the wheels in your house :)

They are hidden.

If it gets to that point, then they can have it. Thats a big PITA.

 You'd give up your car that easy!

In that case where exactly do you live? :D

Hide the keys and use the fuel cut off. That should keep them busy for a while.

I have wheel locks but If I had to remove the wheels and then replace them just to take the car out. No thanks. I think Im going to work on a anti-theft tune I can load in that prevents the car from going over 5 mph and not idle.

Yeah keep those keys somewhere else. Their was a CAM member who had his car stolen from outside his house. They broke into the house, found the keys and took the car. I believe it was found a few days later in DC still intact thank god.

Remember the detroit (i think) guy that was shot in his own home for the keys to the Marauder?

Do you think your driver was pulling your leg?? Either way I'd have him working extra long and hard to make up for the aggravation.

Thats awesome

Why not just make the car start vibrating and say "self destruct in 5...4...3...2...1"

Hey, think of the positive side. Your driver had the foresight and thoughtfulness to call you when he thought he saw your baby out and about, as I'm sure he knows how much the car means to you. Just think, if it was your car and it was stolen LE would have had an immediate lead thanks to your driver's conscious awareness. I would consider giving him a day off with pay or a gift certificate for lunch somewhere, but thats just me.

In England they use the CLAMP. Park in the wrong place they don't tow you, they clamp you. It also works to keep your car from being stolen, and with the right tools only takes 30 seconds to put on. To get around being clamped, you just need to put on four of them and nobody can clamp you in London. They also do not clamp Rollers.

You have drivers?

He seen my car a few times but has no idea what it is or how I care about it. He likes to talk and this was his way of starting up a conversation.
BTW, He has a job with us which with his crappy driving skills is a shocker.

He actually asked me if the engine was hot and its possible that they brought it back after taking it for a joyride :shake:

We used to have a boot placed on your car if you parked in the wrong place, you would have to call up and have them come and remove it for a fee of course. People learned how to remove it so now they just ticket the car and then tow it away.
My family owns a trucking company here in NY. We have over 10 drivers that are spread within all 5 boroughs of NYC any given day.

As a follow up, my driver saw the car again today and said the plate was 1QUIKMER. Close but not quite.

Any one have this plate and travels over the triboro bridge daily?
