This is why I hate Craigslist. Do you think this is legit? I don't like the sound of it.

Thank you for the prompt response to my enquiry am very much
satisfied with the condition and price of the item and i would like to
make an outright purchase immediately so i will advice that you
withdraw the advert from the web.Pls i will like to know how you
intend to proceed on this, but i would prefer that i issue a certified
check in u.s dollars to your location and upon the confirmation and
clearance of payment my shipper will come for the pick-up at your
location.
I would really have love to come for the viewing of the item but
since am not chanced my movers will, If you are okay with this please
do get back to me with the following details so i can make out payment
IMMEDIATELY.
1: Your Full Name to be on the payment
2: Your Address and post code
3: Your mobile and land number.i will expect your Mail.asap
Regards.

I LOVE Craigslist. I have bought and sold countless items, from household to musical instruments from that site. Sure, there are bad people out there trying to scam us as the example shows. Using some common sense works.

I have always dealt with local buyers, cash only and will not ship anything period. I have 4 sober living homes that I own and have gotten 90% of my tenants from there. Also, I have had people donate lawn care equipment, dishes, etc etc etc from Craigslist when our houses needed these things.

Craig and your list, YOU ROCK!

I kept exchanging emails with one of these guys once for a while, and when he finally asked for my home address and full name, I gave him the address of the local FBI office and gave him the name of the agent in charge. Never heard from that particular scammer again...

definitely scam probably from another country - frequently nigeria, uk, or canada (overseas locations harder to prosecute)

I agree with your assessment that it's, prolly a scam, Steve. But I've always thought it best to delete and ignore vague emails such as that one.

Perhaps I'm wrong; but if you reply, won't they have your email address and IP address? If we're correct about it being a scam, then, for the time being, all they have is a bunch of random email addresses, if you reply, then they have a"hit". It's why I never reply to the spammer's "take me off your list", but forward the email to my ISP's SPAM blocker guys, instead.
