This just in...............Dateline State House, New Jersey;)

Watch out ......................... :help:

NJ is starting up a 30 day speeding ticket rally. From what I hear, every trooper assigned to this has to hand out 1 ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They will be focusing in and around this area so watch out.

Here's what a New Jersey State trooper sent:

Starting today, New Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy.
The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime. There will 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways. They are the following:

I-295 north and south
1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south 1-80 east and west
I-287 north and south
I-78 east and west
1-195 east and west
1-280 east and west
Rt. 130 north and south
Garden State Parkway north and south

I'm warning everyone now that 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and writea ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT you will probably take one of these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock you.

101.5 FM confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you. You've been warned." Then the same friend, emailed me the following:
Driving Ticket fine increase in NJ:

Starting on August 15th, the price of a ticket for violation of NJ Law39:3-29 (failure to show your driver's license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00. Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in them.
If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your license in it and you are stopped.... Oh well... you just spent $173. And the fine for not having all three documents is $519 !!!

Forward to people in NJ, and let them know of this change. And be careful, the fine for hand held cell phone use while driving will be going up to $180.00

The only part of that I like is the cell phone fine. I love that! Wish they would enforce it here in Florida.

Ha !!! They only lost by 27 --- Final score was 30-3. First time in 110 years that a team has scored 30 runs in a game. Oh well, they were leading 3-0 for a while. ;)

BTW --- Virginia legislators plan to "fix" all the outrage about the exorbitant abusive driver fines by INCLUDING out-of-state drivers too.

One more reason to not, never, ever, go to New f'n Jersey.

Has anyone calculated what this is gonna cost them in tourist dollars?

Oh, but wait ....those tourist dollars go to merchants and support infrastructure, not into the tax coffers, sorry, my mistake.

Does that mean not even for Englishtown raceway park, or Atlantic City. Gotta make exceptions for some things. Living on Long Island we are stuck driving thru Jersey when we want to go south or west.

wouldn't make much difference anyway - I was stuck on Rt 47 on Sunday night for nearly 3 hours :mad2: 30 miles! If they would put traffic cops at the lighted intersections at high volume hours - nah, that would make sense...

Might just be a coincidence .... I saw lots of NJ Troopers on my trip up the Turnpike on 2 July, too.

But your exact quote in Post #1 above is quoted verbatim -- even including the 30 brand new Crown Vics --- dated back two years ago in 2005.

BTW --- the BS fines in Virginia ain't no hoax -- unfortunately -- it is all too true.

If you read the link from X369 -- sorry, urban legend. Yeah VA sucks for one more reason now. Hopefully they will repeal the ones that affect me (speeding), it's getting a lot of crap in local courts. I can't wait to get out of this state.

How old does something have to be to qualify as 'Urban Legend' ?
Many 'Legends' are based on some fact anyway.

Why is it automatically assumed that snopes is always correct?

Your not completely wrong, they are starting to setup speed traps and other things. I'd think if they pulled over 300 people in 1 spot then things arent normal

Actually that problem could be handled by them reprogramming the computers that control the lights. I hate working traffic at busy intersections. I can't tell you how many times in 27 years, I have had to jump out of the way, almost get smacked in the head by truck and bus mirrors, etc. And then we have the Einsteins that decide to stop in the middle of the intersection and ask for directions.

Sounds like now would be a perfect time to have a convoy of Marauder drive up and down New Jersey state. (with radio gear recording all the truckers.)
