Reaper do a search, I know there's some good information available on this subject, several members have done this I believe.

I'm sure someone blacked it out, Slowpoke for instance painted his front badge, some have removed completely. As for the pic, that's a matter of opinion I guess. It is just a cartoon character, definitely my attitude though......there is a pic posted of the real me and my blue beauty somwhere.

Any good body shop should be able to do it for you.
I got it done for cheap when I was in for some other work.
They use a special paint to bond to that chrome plastic. I think it looks good if you're going for the "stealth" look.

Reaper:

I thought I sent you a lengthy PM on what I did?!?!? My cable company just changed domains, so I haven't been getting all my e-mails in the last few weeks.

Front badge:

I removed the front emblem (see thread elsewhere on forum for detailed removal steps), sanded with 900 grit (which I think was a bit too fine, actually) then spray painted with a black gloss epoxy enamel I got at Home Depot (it's the kind for painting kitchen appliances--I can edit this post later when I get home and insert the exact product name). It's adhering great--no chips or peeling after a couple thousand hard miles. I think I'll lay another coat of clear enamel or laquer to get it more shiny. I think the front badge black-out treatment greatly improves the profile and lines of the car--it's amazing how prominant the old emblem was when it was silver.

[see the gallery pic here:] (http://www.mercurygallery.net/mmnet/showphoto.php?photo=330&size=big&password=&sort=1&cat=500)

I'm sure a professional auto body paint shop would've done an excellent job, but I was just impatient, and I'm quite satisfied with the finished product. It's probably just not as glossy as some may like. It's not flat, but not glossy either, but I'm very happy.

Rear badge:

I just removed it (as described in detail elsewhere on the forum). I had to plug the two remaining holes with two small black plastic retainers from Pep Boys' "Help" section. I recently installed the factory spoiler myself. The rear of the car really looks great, IMO, with the spoiler on, and rear badge removed.
