BMW has tapped respected performance tuner Alpina to create a high-powered version of its 7-Series full-size sedan. Only about 200 of these special cars, called the BMW Alpina B7, are planned for sale in the U.S.

Alpina reworked BMW’s 4.4-liter, V8 engine with a supercharger to boost power and mated it to a six-speed automatic transmission featuring steering wheel mounted shift controls for manual gear selection. The engine produces 500 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 516 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm for a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.8 seconds.

IIRC they killed the M3 this year and are bringing it back in '08 with a fantastic little V8 that has some good numbers. I was waiting for them to put an 8 in that car.
