View Full Version : Upgrade Mechanics in LA

I'm a new owner of an 03MM (12/02) and, from reading all past messages, am convinced that installing the Reinhart chip, 4:10, 180 stat and plugs is the least I can do to improve performance.
Two questions:
Does anyone know of the right mechanic(garage) to install in the LA area?
Are there any negative responses in this upgrade?
Looking forward to absorb all of your experiences

Welcome ParkRanger. Can't help you with the local shop, but if you check you local phone book, see if there is a Mustang Specialist, or find a local mustang club, an see who they recomend.
As for negatives to the Upgrade, I got no complaints here.

I can't answer for the mechanic in your area. Others on here in your neck of the woods will be along shortly to help.
I can tell you that you will love the difference those mods make.
The only negative is with some dealers that will void a warranty for those modifications. Others will preform the mods, keep your warranty intact and send you on your merry way. I did my mods without concern to the warranty. They can be undone very quickly if need be. (with the exception of the 4.10s and they should not void a warranty) Good luck and welcome aboard.

Welcome ParkRanger!
Sunset Ford............5440 Garden Grove Blvd.......right by the 405
They're your local SVT/Saleen/Roush dealer and should be able to handle the gear swap no problem.........use Ford Motorsport gears and get the Ford warranty............
as far as the DR chip, I'm gonna go with a PCM 'reflash' by Dennis so there's no physical evidence of a chip but it has the same program as his chip.......Ford reps are quick to void warranties when there's evidence of a chip--but with the reflash they can't tell.............
ONLY drawback to this way is doing without your MM for a few days...........but well worth it to save your warranty...............

Hi Parkranger, I went to CHICANE SPORT TUNING in Carson. They installed my gears, thermostat and plugs, all done by Ford specs using Ford tooling. I installed the chip myself. They also specialize in all Mustangs, but they have done great work on my MM. They have done a couple of MMs from the LA area. Give them a call and ask for Joe, tell him Mo refered you. #310 782-0063 or go to www.chicanesport.com for more info. Labor cost is more than fair. OH YEAh!, and No negative responses. All these mods will do is make you faster. All good things. Good luckand have fun.

Thanks for all the kind responses. Will stay tuned to keep up on the latest from all you marauder dogs. Will advise the change in performance after all is installed -- probably around end of year. The MM is currently on lease and I may buy it out early depending on asking $$ and available $$. Ride easy.
