I have read many posts but I still can't decide which brand and from who to get a custom tune for my MM. I drive my car every day so I want to get the same gas mileage (or better) and I must get rid of that horrible TC chug..chug.. at 25mph. I would appreciate any suggestions on this, I have read that this is one of the best mods to do for the money, does it really make that much difference?

No one can help you decide what tune to get except yourself. It's a delecate subject too. Both tunes are very good, and both have their up's and down's. Search for some of your answers. I personally have a Lidio tune and I wouldn't have it any other way. BUT, I also have not driven a MM with a DR tune in it. I'm sure someone who's driven both will definately chime in to further assist you.

That's easy.

SCT!

To whom you go entirely depends on how far you are willing to "chug-a-chug".

empeguser. both Dennis and Lidio are supporting vendors, and, as said above, both have an outstanding product that will really wake up your car, as well as correcting the shift schedule. Both work almost exclusively on Fords and I don't think anyone else has more experience with the Marauder specifically. You cannot go wrong with either one.

In Newberry, SC.

I got a Reinhart tune, and got the rest of my mods installed by frdwrch, one of our CM members. He's on the south side of Charlotte, I'll PM you with contact info.

Personally, I would recommend driveing a relatively stock Marauder w/ each of their Tunes.

I have had both. Both make the car much more fun by adding a bit of power. Truth be told, the most noticable difference comes from the Trans Schedule. Dennis and Lidio go about this in different ways.

It depends how you drive / want to drive your car. If you want a shift that is accecptable to your Mother, get Lidios. The shifting is very smooth and firm. If you want Racer shifting, go for Dennis'. Tires chirping are NO issue there

Both are good tunes....pick one and be happy!

Wow, thanks for all of the responses! It seems I may have asked a touchy kind of question. :duel:Thanks for all the comments.:D My main concern is how the trans shifts I want it to feel firm but not extreme. I had a 78' olds cutlass wagon that me and my father built that would chirp second just about all the time, but that got kinda old after awhile. I like firm shifts and maybe even a second gear chirp if I am really on it, but not at light throttle.

Again, both are experts, well known and really good. You may wish to choose DR due to your geography. His dyno would be a shorter trip for when the 'bug' bites you and you get more mods and need to take a ride on the Dynojet.

I have had a Reinhart tune on a relatively stock MM for a couple years now. If you go light on the throttle, the shifts are soft enough for your granny. If you get into it more, then the shifts firm up. I can drive quietly and sedately raising no eyebrows, or hit the gas hard and chirp (or spin depending on conditions) the tires on the 1-2 shift.

IIRC, Lidio's tune does not lock the TC until 63 mph. I drive town/country and rarely see 63 mph for any distance. The Lidio tune cut my MPG down. I ended up having this changed when I had the car dyno tuned. My gas mileage improved from 15.5 to 18.5-19 in my normal day to day driving. I believe DR's tune locks the TC at a lower MPH.

Thanks rayjay, that is a good point I also do a lot of in town driving and that could be a problem, the only time I see over 63mph is when I get on the interstate. I was thinking if the TC came in at about 45mph that would be good, at least it would be better than the stock 25mph... :(

There is another option, if you don't like banging shifts, other than just avoiding DR's tune. I got DR's tune, but I had him soften up the 1-2 shift a lot, from what his "standard issue" tune was. I think his tune, with my requested lowered 1-2 line pressure rise, is really excellent. He also locks the TC early enough for me. I want the TC to be in use. It keeps the trans cool! Running around with the TC unlocked will build up heat (not to mention waste gas, and trust me, the Marauder wastes enough gas as it is, that I can't spare any more!). His tune eliminates the TC chug but keeps the TC routine active enough to keep it locked during cruise, at high or low speeds (at very light throttle the TC locks a little before 40 mph, which is perfect by me). The TC is nearly seamless locking w/ his tune. Good stuff!

Talk to Dennis and request his tune with the "Steve Hylinski" modification (LOL actually don't do that, he probably won't know what the hell you are talking about. I just told him, much softer 1-2 shift please.) He can work with you.

I have DR's standard tune and I think I remember that the shift harshness is user adjustable to some extent. I have been thinking about softening the 1-2 shift a notch. But, on the other hand, I like being able to chirp/spin the tires on that shift.....decisions...decision s...

All you have to do is ask Lidio to lock up earlier and he can set it when you get the tuner. Its NBD.

That's all well and good but I don't like wasting gas just for the sake of wasting gas.
