There was a thread started during MV-V, one of the suggestions was ATL to coincide with the Southern Super Heavyweight Shootout.
Vegas would be fun, but with so many MMs located in the East and Southeast, not certain what kind of turnout there would be in Las Vegas.

I actually suggested Chicago to a few  and I can actually think of a lot to do around here.... the problem would be keeping the costs down.

Hopefully this will happen next year and my only suggestion is that it be held someplace that its just a days drive for the majority of the members. I know there are some that this wont apply to but seems to me if you drew a line from Illinois south to Texas and look east of that line, thats where the majority of us that participate live. On a map, someplace in the TN/KY/MO area would be ideal in that respect. Whether or not we have any members in that area that could do some of the groundwork is another issue.
Vortex is right. Atlanta would be my first choice, Missouri, Tenn, Ky would all be a day's drive and thus acceptable venues.
But let's not have it too soon. MV-lV and V were only ten months apart.
Let's get some distance, time wise, from the MCM's Woodward Dream Cruise.
I would suggest early spring 09 and alternate years thereafter.

Hi all,
Yeah, Atlanta sounds great. I just wonder if there are any members close by that can get things going. Spring 09 sounds just fine to me, too. Of course the Atlanta Motor Speedway is in the area. Also, lots of tourist type attractions like Six Flags Over Georgia to the West and Stone Mountain to the East. Both are great family attractions. My son has driven my Marauder on the Atlanta Motor Speedway already. (He took it to and actually showed it at the NOPI that was held there a year or so ago.)

I have not been able to make it to any of the MV's because they are so far away...sure, I could fly out... but what fun would it be without the Marauder to cruise around in ...I would love to meet everybody in person....I guess that might be one of the downfalls from living on the Westcoast......Most of the other MMers are on the other side of the country

We should just organize a MV-West event and leave those east coast bums to their own devices. :P

Well I still believe KC or something nearby would maximize the national diversity and number of MM's that could attend. My 2 cents from the 11-26-2006 MMV Pole was...
I would put my limit at about 2000Mi; 2 long days plus 1 reasonable day at best. It's kinda hard to imagine spending a week of vacation just coming and going not including any time for the MVV fun stuff.
I sure would like to see something closer but I realize the majority of the MM's are located in the Mid West, East Coast and South East. With MV's normally attended by 60 to 80 MM's, I can see LV would put a lot of high density locations around that 2000Mi distance or more and greatly reduce the attending number of MM's.
Sturgis would be great but what else would you be able to do once there. It appears that everyone except South Florida (2110mi) would be under the 2000Mi distance.
KC is still getting pretty far for me but really isn't that bad from all the high density areas. A little checking yielded the following approximate mileage; Houston-800, Chicago-500, Detroit-800, Boston-1450, Atlanta-800, Cape Coral-1375, Washington DC-1070, Seattle-1900, LA-1700 and Montreal-1400.
Now not to get into any battles about what "tastes great" or "is less filling", but maybe the FIT guys might take an interest as a sponsering vendor like their counterparts at MVIII and MVIV. Maybe with a more central location we could get over a 100 MM's attending. There are more than six of us out here in the west.
Just some rambling and wishful thinking. I had a great time at MVIII but next time I want to bring my MM. It was great to meet everyone but it's just not the same in a rental car.
As much as I would like Las Vegas (but not in the summer), it would seem to put a good portion of the Marauder Nation at over 2,000+ miles away. It would not seem practical for anything but a Western Regional gathering. If we would do that, I would prefer Reno as a more centralized Western Area location. We might be able to get some of the Western Canadian MM's to attend as well.
Just another 2 cents worth! :)

MVVI, Cruising Upstate? Adirondacks, Fingerlakes & wineries, Baseball Hall of Fame, antiquing, casinos, Erie Canal, salmon fishing, championship golf, Watkin's Glen, drag strip, ect. Within a hour drive +/- of where I live.

... if you drew a line from Illinois south to Texas and look east of that line, thats where the majority of us that participate live. On a map, someplace in the TN/KY/MO area would be ideal in that respect.
I tend to agree with this ^^^^ assessment. Someplace in or around the Nashville, Tennessee is about a centralized as you can get within the mass of Marauder density as best as I can determine. Here's the estimated distances from points on the map.
Washington, DC -- 641 miles
Chicago, IL -- 713 miles
Detroit, MI -- 532 miles
Dallas, TX -- 664 miles
Houston, TX -- 857 miles
Omaha, NE -- 741 miles
Syracuse, NY -- 847 miles
Orlando, FL 686 miles
Cleveland, OH -- 519 miles
Kansas City, MO -- 554 miles
Des Moines, IA -- 677 miles
Average -- 675 miles
That puts "most" within a 10-12 hour trip. Unfortunately, that doesn't help out many of our western friends -- but it does represent a rough Center of Mass.
Tying this into the annual Fun Ford Weekend (FFW) in Bristol, TN would be nice. Unfortunately, Bristol is about 289 miles EAST of Nashville and would add another 4+ hours to the drive for those to the west, north and south.
Whether there is enough interest locally to sponsor and do the legwork for a Nashville event is a big question. :dunno:

I was thinking of MV-VI in NYC. The only problem I could come up with is costs. There are some nice hotels in Staten Island which would put us a ferry ride away from Manhattan, 20 minutes away from E-town for racing, We also have a Six flags close by in NJ, plenty of dining, tourist attractions, Organized tours of the city and museums. We have the Bronx zoo, Big spacious public parks in Queens and on Long Island for car shows.

Glassman and the Southern Marauders had a great proposal for MVV that remains fully viable for Atlanta. I agree that some time should pass, a year at least..the fall of 08. It appeared that fund raising was a problem for the CAM guys and gals..perhaps Wes could donate a Trilogy to the raffle mix? I could vote for Seattle....no car but so what..it is a fun place to be. Duncan...that is a great idea! that is probably the only way we are gonna be able to gather up a "Larger" type of meet....there is certainly plenty of places we could have one that had lots of stuff to do........I'm up for taking a longer drive somewhere, but not to the complete other side of the country

atlanta my vote
Mary enlighted us that money was not an issue with MV-V, I don't think it's ever been an issue. But distance, that is, west coast MMs driving to East coast events and visa versa is and always has been an insurmountable obstacle.
For those living EAST of the Rocky Mountains, distance, while long in some cases, didn't seem to stop those who WANTED to come.
Some of my Mid Texas and Alabama friends elected to go to the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit and that was a long drive too.
I still maintain that timing of the event is crucial so that other events competing for Marauder attendance are factored out.
Next Year I am going to the dream cruise come hell or high water, I missed it during MV-lll and again this year due to conflicting schedules. Since the WDC is a national event and cannot be changed let's schedule future MV-XXs on the opposite side of the calendar with at least 12-14 months between.
Our Marauders shine up in hot or cold weather, besides it gives us a chance to wear our leather Marauder Jackets.

According to this map, Tennesee looks like the spot right in the middle that would work for the most members.

Vegas would be good for all those who live in the west or in the great white west.
Although maybe a dual location would be good? One west one east.
And given the new passport problems getting into the USA maybe a Canadian location might work too.
