I have a 2006 Taurus and the sumb1tch has DRL's. If I knew that when I bought it, it would be a solid deal-breaker. I hate them with a criminal passion. As a motorcyclist - I believe only bikes should have them. The circuit is solid-state apparently in the SJB (smart junction box) under the dash. They go off when the parking brake is applied but I have to hear a frantic chiming sound when I drive. Anyone know enough about Ford wiring to kill these bastards? I have removed the fuse but it kills the headlights, the flash-to-pass and the DRL's. I have found a few wires at the SJB and have cut them to no avail. I resoldered these wires as I went. Help.

Pull the chime...you should be able to hear it...in the fuse box... One click down on the e brake takes care of the drls...and away you go.

I thought only builds for Canada had them?

I have a daily driver '06 F-150 and it's got that DRL feature which I also can not stand. On my F-150, it took me 3 minutes to disabled the DRL.
I found the DRL relay in the owner's manual. Located the relay in the fuse box under the hood. Removed the relay, voila! No more DRL!
Results may vary.

DRL's are required on all models after I believe 05. Big brother taking care of you, as he thinks we are unable to do it ourselves.

They were standard on the 2006 Taurus. BUT....... Not on my friends 2006 Five Hundred. I am an electrical genius and know where to look for relays and switches but this is killing me. There is a website with vehicle-specific DRL-kill instructions but this one isn't listed. www.lightsout.org (http://www.lightsout.org) . My 2006 UD Nissan Wrecker HAD them but they are now history!

You might be able to disable the DRL's thru the PCM with a FORD scan tool.
I have enabled them on a 2005 Escape, and 2006 Grand Marquis with the FORD scan tool. It's good to have friends who still work for dealers.

Carfixer had his paws on it for an hour and came up with nothing. Claude is THE MAN but even this was beyond him.
