Just last week I purchased a New 2007 Lincoln TownCar Designer Series ( Color-Black on Black) . In the past I always used LLumar Window tint film on all of my cars & trucks. Graystone has a Cermic Film GS30 that has a Heat reduction of 67%, Huper Optik Cermic Film has a heat reduction of 61% also I was thinking of useing a 3M CS35 or a 3M BC35 but I can't find what the numbers are. My question is which Quality film do you guys use and why?

You already know my answer. :)

Seems that the Huper Optik is 70% heat rejection and 99% UV rejection. I do not know if that changes with the darkness of the tint though.

+1 here for Llumar.

I just tell my window tint guy to make my cars the legal maximum tint for N.C. He does the rest.

84,000 miles and still working fine--up to 45 degree difference at 110 OAT. Ginny has skin cancer and has had no new sites since installation in April, 2003. I cannot recommend it too highly. No discoloring or bubbling--if it's good in Texas, it's good anywhere---go for it--it's worth every dime it costs. Maury
PS--the windows get hot--the insides don't. I use it with a retractable windshield screen for a cool car all the time.

Z, I put LLUMAR on all my cars. They really stand behind the warranty. Once, I developed a few bubbles on the rear window years after the installation. I showed them the receipt and bam, they replaced it without a hitch.

If the other brands stand up behind their products like LLUMAR then they might be great choices as well.

It costs more, but it's worth it! Why?

1. Best heat rejection of any film.

2. Huper hold multiple patents on their ceramic technology that others CAN NOT DUPLICATE. They practically invented the stuff.

3. Different look. I love it.

4. Super tough.

5. Ceramic DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH ELECTONICS.

On a 95 degree day, if let my car sit in a parking lot for a few hours, and come back, as long as the sun was shining through the tinted windows only, the interior heat gain is MINIMAL. It's amazing.

caveat: the back window on the panther is VERY CURVED and a pain to shrink for installers. My installer is good, but still had two small areas that left a hardly noticeable, but nonetheless present crease (1" max on each side). Also, a strange phenomena where if you shrink huper A LOT, like on our vehicles, you will get some ghosting in the shrunk areas under certain lighting. It kind of looks like smudges, or something. Both of these are minor, and most people would not even notice, but for the picky (like me), I thought you should know ahead of time. My installer said he would, reinstall another product for me, but the performance is SO AMAZING, that I'm living with the barely noticeable (5% of the time) issues.

After many weeks of researching I selected Formula One Pinnacle tint at 50% as I had believed, at the time, it offered the highest heat-rejection of not-too-dark window-tint films. I'm glad I went with it, since it looks nice and does make a difference in overall heat-gain; but now I'm very intrigued with this Huper Optik------I've never heard of it, but it sounds like the way to go with my next vehicle!

Huper beats Pinnacle on heat rejection, no question. I considered both.

fastcar:burnout:Huper Optik is also a very thick window film. Kinda like Security Films or Hurr. films. Rick-N-Miami has it on his Marauder and you can feel the difference. I'm still doing my research on the different types of film's and want to thank everyone who answered so far.

After researching all the tints I'm going to go with "3M Color Stable Advanced Film". It has a 71% Solor Energy Rejection, Only a 5% Light Reflection, 99% UV Ray Rejection, It has no Metals & has a Parented Carbon Infused Design. Color is Neutral Black at a 35 % tint. 3M Lifetime Warranty.

Rick-N-Miami used the Huper Optic tint and cost around $400.00 to tint his Marauder . The tint I'm useing "3M Color Stable Advanced Film " is going to cost around $240.00 for my TownCar.

Z, take before and after pics if possible.

Also, does anyone "know" if the tint needs to be cut around the third (middle) brake light in the rear window or if we can cover the WHOLE rear window with tint?

The brake light is taken out by any tech worth his weight in dirt, and the piece covers the whole thing. My installer forgot to put it back in when he was done :shake:

I had two tints on my Marauder:

First, Llumar ATR Luma Star 28% and the installer cut around the brake light in the rear window. The installer told me that it is the law to cut around the brake light because you cannot hinder it's light output. Maybe he way lying about the law part but not for the money because he offered to redo it for free on the spot or anytime that I choose. I just left it.

I didn't really like the color because unlike most, I like the no tint look more but it is impossible to live with here in South FL. Thus, I installed...

Llumar Platinum Plus 35%. It is a bit lighter and works just as good if not better. However, this time the installer didn't cut around the brake light and when I mentioned it to him he said that it is perfectly legal to tint over the brake light.

Thus my question: Is it legal to tint over the brake light or must you cut around it. I don't want to know what looks better since it's just opinion but what is the law?
