Cheap car shipping?

I have a guy that is going to buy my SHO, but he's on a tight budget, he had a car company quote him $500, and now they backed down and won't do it for less than $900. He found another company to do it for $700 but that's still out of his range. Do any of you know good, cheap transporters?

Go into the Hemmings ads.. there are a lot of transporters there... You are in MA.. go to the big auto auction in Framingham at the Old GM plant and you will find any number of transporters there... Where has the unit got to go? You have to figure at least a $1.50 per mile for any reputable hauler with a small rig...

It's a SHO, it's not a gold mine of a car. He's getting a good deal on it, so I could give two *****s how it gets shipped! I still haven't had any luck yet though. To me $675 is a good deal from MA to Tennessee.

Someone told me to check out uship.com. Now, I'm a bit confused on understanding it. To me, it looks like an eBay for Car Transporter's? Like, you list the description of your car, put a pic up and whatever, and people offer quotes to you, and whatever is in your budget, you go with?

Plane ticket is better, he/she gets to know the car on the drive home, and gets a holiday at the same time.

If you ship, make sure the buyer arranges the shipping and pays for it. If it get damaged while shipping and you arranged shipping you can be held responsible/liable.

Have you ever driven a SHO before? Especially one that had a hard life before you owned it? I am confident in the car, just no confident it would make a 1200 mile trip down there, and I don't want to be reliable if something were to happen to the car on the drive down.

I know you want to sell the car, have you put it on an SHO forum? I know a few guys here in Iowa that have gone to the east coast for those cars. I got one (green 94) a few years ago. The guy I got it from got it in VA. Have him try a truck driver some of those guys will bring back cars or parts rather than haul empty. It could be worth a try. Good luck with the sale!!

Ditto on the cheap car haulers. Get your money and have him arrange the shipping. It's not worth the headache.

Yes, I have it on a SHO forum, I'm actually selling it to a member. I found a pretty good price on a reputable company, they only want $649, which sounds good to me.
