My dad just got a 2007 BMW M6 Convertible, yesterday tripple black. This car is soooo sweet. It feels like the type of race car you would sit in at a musiem or something. This thing has a very weird tranny. It can be in drive, manual or can be pattle shifted from the steering wheel. You can actually adjust how agressively you want the tranny to shift, push a button to retune the engine to run harder, there is a power button that will gimme 100 more horsepower because it normally runs on 400, but it really has 500, V10 engine!

I wanna run this thing down the track, but so far it's a no no. I might see if I can bolt the slicks on it, but with brakes this big I doubt you can get 16s on this car.

Anyone know what this thing runs? I know the coupe does 12.4 I would assume the convertive would do a 12.7? I wonder what a tune would do:eek:

Dom: Do search on a BMW site and they should have the numbers? Or log into Car & Driver, Motor Trend etc. for numbers:)

BMW has tapped respected performance tuner Alpina to create a high-powered version of its 7-Series full-size sedan. Only about 200 of these special cars, called the BMW Alpina B7, are planned for sale in the U.S.

Alpina reworked BMW’s 4.4-liter, V8 engine with a supercharger to boost power and mated it to a six-speed automatic transmission featuring steering wheel mounted shift controls for manual gear selection. The engine produces 500 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 516 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm for a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.8 seconds.

I'm a Straight Edge for life. Now if you talking about me boozing them up, the last thing I would want is my dad to be drinking again and I have never seen my mom drink more than a glass of wine or half a bottle of lite beer. Looks like I'm outta luck. There is a key for this car, but you don't need it to start it, just be within 15 feet.

Umm, at $4,000 plus PER Wheel they can keep it.

Also, my friend just bought the M6 but the coupe. He strongly believes that no true BMW M fan would ever consider the convertible. Just get the regular 6 series for that.

The coupe's carbon fiber roof is unreal!

Ever see the BMW TV ads. They always have some idiot driving recklessly through a parking lot or down a crowded street weaving between cars. Then the owner of the BMW gets in the cars and guess what? We now know who the idiot on TV was.

BMW Cars made by idiots for idiots, the ultimate idiot generating machine.

Please don't let your Dad become an idiot!

Sounds like they made it idiot proof.

No I don't watch t.v. but that sounds like me alright. My dad has always liked convertibles and he drives like an old lady. If anyone will get a kick outta the performance it's me. So far he doesn't like the way the car is off the line or it's way of shifting. I'll gladly take it off his hands though. :D

That's a nice car and all, but he won't be really cool until he gets himself a Yamaha DT175 dirt bike. :) Hey, it worked for me!
