Finally, I got out to the track last night. It's only 1/8 mile, but gave me a reference point.

I am not too impressed with the results. Seems many NA Marauders have run much better times.

This is what I came up with, 70 degrees - 70% humidity

Run #........Reaction.........60 foot..........1/8 mi E.T........1/8 mi MPH
1.............. .7029 ........... 2.2670 .......... 9.7979 ........... 73.43
2.............. .5829 ........... 2.2691 .......... 9.8106 ........... 73.28
3.............. .6548 ........... 2.2650 .......... 9.8349 ........... 73.07
4.............. .5909 ........... 2.4209 .......... 10.0919 .......... 72.39 (+ Son)
5.............. .4901 Red Lt .. 2.2660 .......... 9.7998 Breakout73.43
6.............. .5949 ........... 2.2880 .......... 9.8813 ........... 72.79
7.............. .4279 Red ..... 2.3090 .......... 9.8809 ........... 73.18
8.............. .4418 Red ..... 2.3922 .......... 10.0812 ........... 71.77 (+Son)

All I have is a Tune and just put on UD pullies.

Car ran pretty consistant times. My reaction times leave a bit to be desired, but in my defense, this is the first time I have been to the track in exactly 20 years. It's such a coincidence I am celebrating my 19th wedding anniversary this week.....Hmmmmm.

Lowered rear tire PSI to 30, 5-7 second burnout, jumped twice to run off any water/debris, staged and stayed put. Tires did not break free at the line.

Ran against a S/C Buick Regal a few times who took me in the low end, but I reached him just past the finish line and FLEW past him. If it were only 1/4 mi....

Had a good time with my Son. Track officials let me run with him in the passenger seat two times. He loved it. Just Time trails.

Boy, would I love to get a Turbocharger....

Soooo, now I have the dreaded go fast bug again. The sounds, smells and old friends came back in a rush. My 4.10s have to go in, debating Nitrous, but would love to turbocharge/supercharge.

Last run was against a 300C Hemi with nitrous, he ran 8.88 @ 79.48.

I can still smell the racing fuel....

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. How old is your son. I was 13 the first time I went to the drags and still remember it well. What a great memory my friend left with me.

Son is 14, although he looks to be 18. Track said he had to be 16 to ride with me, but waived him as he looks and acts like an 18 year old.

His 180 pounds of youthful muscle slowed the car a bit....

He wants to go again next week, but my lovely of 19 years prolly won't allow it....

What were the temps/humidty like and what is the elevation of the track.

I, too, was dissappointed with my 1/8th mile runs this year. They were aboutn .10 slower than my runs last year. And since last year I have done the gears, Metcos, and Addcos.

Now, given that I did try to justify the slower times by the fact that it was about 90 degrees out with aboutn 95% humidty. The times from last year were on a day when it was about 85 degrees and probably around 75-80% humidty.

The car runs good and was pulling hard. I just think these cars do a lot better or shine more in the 1/4 mile since they pull better on the top end than off the line.

Just my input. Glad you had a good time with your son. I might be taking my 2 year old daughter to the track on Saturday - if I can find some ear protection for her.

When I went to the strip last week a 16 year old and his dad showed up. I talked dad into getting a race permit. They had a blast trying to beat each others reaction time. Keep it up with your son and he will grow up to be someone you will be very proud of. Make his hobbies yours and you will watch him grow up with you as you relive your childhood!

Your times may be a touch slow with the mods you have. How hard did you launch? I just checked back ovver my slips and with just tune and pullies I was going a little quicker, mostly 9.5's and a few 9.6's with traps n the 74 to 75 mph range. Are you still carrying the spare and jack? How about air filter? I noticed I was running a K&N back then, and no spare. My best times are launching around 1500 rpm. Just want to hear a slight tire squeal when you go. Keep bumping up the launch rpm's until you loose traction, then back down slightly. Other factors may be injectors (I do the service about every 20K miles) and transmission (again, I do the service every 20-25K). When launching harder, I run tire pressure around 22 to 24 psi. Some tracks are long also, but you'd notice slower et's with higher traps if this was the case. There's a place in Alabama where I go about 2/10's slower et's and about 5 mph faster traps due to this.

Now that there is just plain mean.

We have an endless summer going on up here. it is 90 degrees today and Friday. No end in sight. Fabulous!

I think we have had the suuniest summer on record.

I have an idea. start a "buy Joey a Forced Induction System Fund"

That way I'll be ready to tare it up in the Spring and participate in NHRA Points Series like i was invited to do in 1988, and never happened.
