I agree. It's a great looking wheel, but is best suited for large vehicles.

This may attract the blingbling-yobud-foeschizzle rice out American car crowd. You know the demographics...16 to 25 year old ... backwards hat...stickers on every body panel...primer gray bodyparts and still driving vehicle......

Sorry...I shutty uppy now...( falls off soapbox )...

I look at it in two good ways. They'll become cheaper to obtain most likely now, the bad is like you guys stated, everyone and their mom will slap these rims on their cars.

I'm confused: are these wheels being offered as a factory option on new Mustangs, or did someone just slap a Mustang center cap on some Marauder wheels and stick them on his 'Stang?

These are factory wheels. I saw them on the lot while i was scoping some new stangs out ;)

They are as quoted on the window sticker : "forged 18' aluminum wheels"

As much as I love Mustangs, this kind of cheapens the intrinsic value of the 5-spoke chrome Mauader wheels. I have to agree here that it's a bad idea to give Mustangs Marauder rims. I just hope that they don't end up on some P.O.S. Honda. If I saw that, I'd have to set it on fire with some home made napalm.

I think they've been available in the aftermarket ford racing catalog for some time for Mustangs, I heard they were thinking of putting them on factory rides (like one of the special edition cars).

Sounds like either way they're making it onto the factory option list, not just the catalog...

Personally, I don't think they look compared to several of the other Mustang rim options. They look great on big Marauders but out of place on Mustangs.

To me, those disc brakes look very small. I'll assume that's a rear wheel on a six cyl car, although it's 5 lug, and I think the 6 bangers have 4 lugs. If it's a new car, with the old style '65-'66 Gt stripes, was it a dealer installed "Appearance" package. ......whatever....it doesn't work for me. Perhaps if we saw a snap of the whole car? :dunno:

All are 5-lug these days, like they shoulda been from '79-93 Foxes! :)

You are right though I hope that's a rear brake, and another thing, the tire to fender gap is huge!

Maybe they will start to offer Marauder wheels in 20 inch sizes.

^^^ that's correct. These wheels have been offered as an option for Mustangs for a long time now, at least since the new Mustang was introduced.

Ford has a lot invested in these wheels, they are a quality product, why not use them?

I'd rather see them pushed for Mustangs than start to see them on every Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria.

09-12-2007, 02:57 PM
I'm not convinced yet...

This is the page at Ford's website that lists the wheels:

http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/features/

There is one 18 inch wheel that they do not link a photo to. The pictured ones are NOT a Marauder wheel...

If the one unpictured wheel is, then it is not called a 'forged wheel', but a 'premium' wheel.

Think about the possibility of more tire options, too.
Once the Mustang gets stuff, the aftermarket jumps on it.

These are slightly different than ours. The lip around the center cap is flat, ours is rounded. Otherwise, yes, they are being offered in the catalogs.

The discs on a GT are only 1" larger in diameter than the V6.

Min rim size for GT wheels is 17".

V6s like mine have 16" stock.

Ah, next year.

Personally I don't like these rims on stangs either.

The Bullitt rims are much nicer... and cheaper...

Wow.

It's just a rim...

I don't think a rim makes your MMs unique.

Ford is actually pretty smart. 99.9% of the population would not recognize the MM rim, as an MM rim. So Ford didn't cheapen the Mustang by using it. Cheapen the MM, they did. But most people don't know that the MM exists, and think it is a crown victoria w/ rims on it anyway. I had a guy ask me if my MM was a V6 the other day. LOL

Its like the MM is some sort of "secret" model.

Only available to certain government agencies.

Or by agents with sunglasses calling themselves Mr Smith.

No lie, when we were setting up for our cruise in the parking lot, the first MM rolls in... all nice and quiet like... pulls up behind the last mustang...

First thing I thought, "WTF, they gonna ask us to move?"

Turns out he's there for the cruise!

Of course, the tinted windows and push bar were a nice touch!
