Whos running them? How are they holding up as far as treadwear goes? How do they handle, how quiet are they? How do they compare to the stock tires? Im needing new tires and these seem like pretty nice tires to sub for the now impossible to get stockers. Also, what tires are you guys running up front to pair with these since they dont make a smaller size than the 255/55/18s for the back.

Im on my second set and I love them. They hook up great on track and the street. I also get great traction in the rain as well as them being very quiet at all highway speeds.
I have many burnouts on mine and the 420 tread wear rating show minimal wear after a good burnout.
I didnt need to purchase a second set because my first were still in great shape but I knew at MV-V I would be doing a lot of 1/4 mile runs at the track and I didnt want to take a chance being so far from home.
They are my favorite tire so far, I only wish they made the same tire in a size for the front.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I am on my #2 set. 1st set took me 37000 miles. Nope, no extra zero. I don't do as many burnouts, but treadwear and wet traction is excellent.
It's hard to break them loose laterally, but I run 45's and 20's on the rear and once I get them to break, they keep sliding. Please understand, I have NEVER had these tires break UNINTENTIONALLY. I only slide at my private drifting track!!!
I love them and will stay with them as long as they are available. I have also mentioned about a million times on this site how good they are.
You will not find a matching front. However, the 555 in stock size on front with the 420s out back is an EXCELLENT combination.

Sweet!! I just ordered a set yesterday and I wasn't sure how it would turn out.

255-55-18 on the rear, do those maintain a close height to our 28"?
I will need new rears, yesterday...:P
I looked at Nitto 555 in 295-45-18 and although the height is near exact to our oem's, the price at $500 a pair retail is rediculous.

The price on those are very respectfull!!!
I cannot find a website that shows the overall height however.
Would one of you owners measure for me please?

Barry, the Nitto is 718 revs/mile while the BFG is 724. This difference amounts to less than tread wear.

Thank you both. :bows:
My concern is valid for programming and tune value only.
1" under might prove bad for me with my shift schedule, 1" over is not an issue.
Off to the store tomorrow. ;)

IIRC, the closest number on an SCT is 723 in Extreme Tune. This has proved accurate within .1 MPH @ 70-85 according to GPS.

I put the Nitto 420s on in July. No issues with the tires. All the above comments apply.

I cant seem to find the 555 in the stock front tire size. According to Nittos website, they dont make it in the stock size. So are you guys running a slightly diff size? If so, what size?
Also, what other tires are you other guys running up front besides the 555.
Im about to go tire shopping real soon.
Thanks.

Sorry.
245/45/18 on 555 fronts.
Nitto 26.57 dia 782 revs/mi
BFG stock 27.2 dia 759 revs/mi
Car will be .3 in lower in front. Not enough to pi$$ off ABS or traction control.

I ordered two (420s) a moment ago. Free shipping from Discount Tire online right now. I shall post a review once mounted and driven about a bit.;)
I need to get my spare set of wheels widened to accomodate the 555R's.

I had them mounted today, and just put them on the car. I could only test drive around the block as I have several kids I am watching at the moment.
I couldn't get prolonged speed, but with one launch I noticed that they break loose pretty easy from a 10 mph roll, and at about 60 mph I felt rear end sway.
Are any of you feeling rear end sway at highway speeds?
I won't know until tomorrow when I run across town to see grandpa.

Mine have been rock solid at all speeds. What PSI are they at? I'm running the 04 spec 35 on rear and pumped up the OEM fronts to 38 PSI to compensate for the stiffer sidewall of the 420s on the rear.

I have 35psi all around and the first few miles will feel like they sway. It will pass.

I just completed a massive road test.
I am pleased to say that there is NO shimmy nor wiggle at any speed upwards of 120 mph. There is NO road noise as well.
I am surprised, being these are LT tires, of the amount of sidewall flex while cornering. They do breal loose quite easily, particularly under power, and cornering.
I am anxious to try them in rain.
Once doing so, I can give them a full fledged thumbs up alternative to the BFG. And at $127 to the door, the price is quite acceptable.
As an edit:
I also adjusted my rear ride height 1/2" higher since these tires are a tad bit taller. Rake is nicely adjusted now.

What PSI are you all running with these? 1 month and no answer? My Nitto 420s' should be arriving this week so I would be thankful for hands on advice.
Basically, looking forward to hearing from anyone who has 255/55-18 in the rear no matter the brand.

I run 35psi in my Nittos you can run 30psi and not notice any difference. At the track I run 25psi and they hook up great.

You have the 420s in the rear?
How long have you had them?
Do you like them (would you buy again)?
What are you using for a front tire?
Sorry for all the questions. This is the first time that I buy any tire other than OEM for this car and being N/A I have no way to adjust the speedo.

I have 420's on my rear and this is my second set in over a year and a half. I definitly recomend these tires as a alternative to the BFG.
Im using my stock BFG in the front because nitto doesnt make a tire any smaller in the 420s tread pattern.

I've had mine on for approximately 10K miles and have adjusted the PSI from 30 to 42 and I've got them set to 35psi now. I can't complain about them at all and they look like new. SID210SA in San Antonio TX was skeptical at first and now, he's considering replacing his with them.
I have only been able to break them loose while intending to do so and it's HARD for me and I've got CAI and a nice tune. YMMV

My apologies for losing this thread. I wasn't aware you had questions.
You ask of the breaking loose.
My Marauder will break loose nearly any tire. It's a reality, and not an issue, and should not sway your decision for your application.
You ask of rear adjustments. Again, unique to me, and likely will have NO impact on your application.
I HAD to raise the rear. In my case, my front is already lowered 1.5".
The rear had already been lowered to accomodate the rake issue even with BFG's. These tires are a bit taller. I needed to raise the rear a bit to keep the original appearance.
I still have had little rain experience with them yet.
I probably only put 35 miles a week on the car.

No worries about loosing the thread. No way that it won't happen with all that goes on here.
I have the 420s on order from the supplier that your recommended.
Thanks for all the info.
