Was flipping between powerblock and espn (only watching Stacey david's gearz) and on gearz they were talking about how they produce cherry bombs, which got me thinking, how would an MM with glasspacks sound? My dad told me dont even think about it, and i know it would be annoying loud, but has anyone put cherry bomb glasspacks or any glasspacks for that matter on a MM? I'd love to hear it to get an idea, i dont want my car to sound like a cobra because alot of MM's sound like cobras, espically with the cobra exhaust manifolds and X pipe, not saying thats bad but then my car would sound like every mustang and cobra with a exhaust system out there.

So, MM and glasspacks, nasty combo? I'd probably delete 2 cats as i had these installed, and if i found 2 cherry bombs for a great price i'd probably do it asap.

lemme know! I think it'd be sicknasty :D

I think the member Krytin has glasspacks on his Marauder.

Red $15 mufflers, when a Marauder deserves stainless long life beauties...???
You might be a redneck, if you have curb feelers and cherry bombs on your Marauder.

Magnaflows are basically glasspacks. 14 inch, here. No cats. Do the 14" magnaflows and delete tips. Unique Marauder sound and not too obnoxious for Pops!

According to Wes I have glass packs on mine. I have the stock tips and the sound is not out of control...I believe Wes had magnaflows and delete tips and his was just a little louder than mine...can't wait to hear mine with deletes. I think it does sound pretty good though with just the packs, and I get plenty of double takes.

Videos from MVIV. I currently have 14 inch Magnaflows. They are nice and quiet at light throttle, but sound nice when you hammer down. In some of the clips you can hear Rich's (magindat) and mine together.

I ran for a while with NO mufflers. Sounded great but very loud, even at low throttle and had annoying highway drone. I still wonder what cherry bombs woud sound like on a Marauder.... I suspect it would sound close to running without mufflers.
You can hear the "no muffler" sound here:

I had a Honda next to me the other day with some kind of resonators. He was louder than me at idle, although I idle low, but he sounded like a wounded monster sewing machine.

Back when I was a kid, a couple hundred years ago, Cherry Bombs were the only "glasspack" muffler and they sounded like ***** on everything they were installed on. Way too loud and raspy. They were popular because they were cheap. Can't say what it would sound like on a Marauder, but with overhead cams I bet it would sound even worse than I remember.

(not condemning all "glasspacks", just the Cherry Bombs)

I already know your car sounds amazing stop rubbing it in jerk, how many more comments do you want i gave you like 5 :P

It all depends really, like i said i dont want to sound like every mustang GT and cobra and mach 1 in the US, canada and puerto rico

There are like 4 mustangs in my town that ALL sound the same, i dont want to be in that group.

how bout stainless works headers? I heard they tend to expand and rub on things, but yet kooks discontinued the mm cats and are being refered to as krooks.

Im so confused! I thought about flowmaster 40's, how bout the new 44?

Also would it be wise while im having a shop put on the muff's to also hack off 2 cats? seeing how they are dead weight anyways?

If the shop will lob the 2nd set of cats off go for it. I had thought about the 44's but I was waiting for a friend of mine that has a Mach 1 to install his, after a week he went back to the exhaust shop and had his super 40's put back on. He didn't like the sound and neither did I. His Mach 1 is bone stock so it was somewhat easy to hear the difference.

To each their own though, don't take my word on it, they might be music to your ears as well as glasspacks.

AH

Ahaha haha ha! I had another crazy idea

Setup 1 - Exhaust manifolds to cats (subtract 2) to flowmasters ( im highly considering ) to res delete tips

And

Setup 2 - The fun setup, Electric cutouts that come off the exhaust manifold for a very low restriction exhaust and an amazing sound!

I know there was a member who had these i saw the pictures, ill have to try and dig it up again.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYM5b_3OUUs

Its a grand marquis, but its the only 4.6L panther that is actually revving w/o the cats or anything on the exhaust

I'd love to hear what you think about bumper stickers on a Marauder. I did that and I think it looks waaaay cool. But then again I always thought a gun rack in the rear window of my Marauder would look sweet too.

Redneck? Maybe... I'm really not too keen on the term. I prefer "Minnesota Border ruffian" over the more politically correct "Border ruffian-American".

Keep us posted on the CherryBombs. I'm deffinately interested.

That is cool for the sound when you hit the switch, but I bet these cars run quicker with the exhaust. I have seen some crazy street cars run with and without full exhaust, and there was no difference with the right system.

Geez no one likes how my car sounds?! I was going to do e-cutouts, but it was going to be for show/sound only. I figured I would lose power.

My friend liked your car, but if i didnt know you owned a marauder i woulda guessed it was a cobra from the sound.

Nope, which means i have alot of free time to start threads like this one;)

I was thinking of Cherry Bombs just the other day. Had them on a 1960 Mercury Monterey Montclair with 383 cid, headers, dual exhaust. Sounded like I was going a LOT faster than I really was. heh heh I was wondering how Cherry Bombs would sound on a Marauder.... then this thread popped up.

Afraid I haven't done glasspacks, but I've recently installed a full magnaflow magnapack system on my '98 Cobra, and it sounds unbelievable! I don't have any sound clips, but the magnapack mufflers look like a polished stainless glasspack(they're a straight-thru style performance muffler). A little pricey, but sound great... The motors are so similar, I can't imagine that it wouldn't sound good on the Marauder(loud, though).

On a side note, I don't post much because my original marauder purchase went sour, and I wound up with an '03 Deville DTS. Still read the forum regularly and will likely have a Marauder sometime in the future.

I don't know if you are interested in the sound of a 2V 4.6, but I just installed glasspacks on my '00 P71. I can try to get a sound clip for you if needed. It sounds deeper with the 3" tips on it.:beatnik:
