I've done a search, but can't find anything....
I remember that someone painted the inside of their wheels black...
the area behind the polished aluminum...
anyone remember who or are there photos...
I've got the wheels off while I'm painting the calipers...
and I was considering cleaning and painting this area of the wheels...
Thanks for any info....

I clean the inside of the rim, then take a scotchbright pad to remove any stains.
They look like new when Im finished.

Try one of the Mequires polishing balls, with a bit of swirl remover and/or any good wax, you won't be disappointed.

Paint?

My thoughts are it would not hold up over time. Menace never drove his car.

Mine are powder coated. A finish that will last a lifetime.

I did it using Rust-Oleum Bar-B-Q-Black High Heat oil-based enamel. It's worked great and is supposed to resist heat up to 1000deg (made to paint grills and wood stoves). Initially I was just going to use it on the inside of my widened wheels to seal any pin holes in the welds. Bought a quart can so that I could touch up spots when adhesive weights were changed after a wheel balance. Also used it on brake calipers and other "unblack"* hardware in the wheel wells.

*Mental note: new word, save to dictionary:P

OK...I'll admit, I saw an entire car painted with Rust-o-leum, not rattle can, brush on, and after many coats and wet sands, it looked awesome.

I just shy away from rattle can jobs, particularly since there are high end coatings readily and easily available for just such jobs.

Black inside would help hide tar spots that are really hard to clean off...
but...black is tough to keep clean too.....:(
I think I'll clean the back real good and wax it for now...
THANKS FOR THE GOOD INFORMATION....:D

I painted the inside of mine black, but that was before I had them widened. They stripped and re polished them then, and I have not repainted them either. Not sure if I will or not.

It did look nice, though. Really brings out the shine on the front of clean rims.
