For anyone that's interested, the Milwaukee Road #261 steam locomotive is pulling an excursion train on Saturday October 6th and Sunday October 7th from Minneapolis to Winona. The train will depart the Harrison Street yard in Minneapolis at 8:30 am each day and arrive in Winona, MN at approximately 11:45 am. The train will proceed to LaCrescent, MN where it will be turned on the wye for the return trip to Minneapolis. Departure from Winona is about 2:15 pm with arrival back in Minneapolis around 6:30 pm.
Tickets to ride the train can be purchased at the Depot in Wayzata, 402 East Lake Street, Wayzata, MN 55391 or from the 261 web site http://www.261.com (http://www.261.com/)
Weather permitting, I will be chasing the train and photographing it at various points along the way. Not sure which day yet, depends on the weather. If you would like to chase with me, let me know so we can pick a meeting spot, maybe somewhere near Red Wing?
