Seems older car restoration has taken off lately and I know most of you have a classic car in your garage, I figured this would be a great thread to show it off in.
Heres my gift from my Uncle...

When we first picked up the car last year it looked like this...
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d12/blackened300a/DSCN0663.jpg

The outside wasnt all the bad but the engine was in need of a good cleaning and painting.
The chrome on the air cleaner and valve covers was just filthy, the pics of what the engine look like now was after polishing them up.

Nice cars everyone!!! I also love big coupes, I'm digging the Chrysler and the Coupe DeVille (oh, and the Mark VI...)

Here's mine in much better days...this picture was taken 7 or 8 years ago when it was still my daily driver. 1979 Chevy Malibu, 267 V8. Bought new by my grandfather, passed down to my mom, and then to me.
http://www.thewolfweb.com/photos/00084065.jpg

Right now, it no longer runs and has been in storage for several years since I don't have a garage or anywhere to work on it...but it will be back on the road someday. Hopefully not too far in the future...

This is my Brother's 1970 Mercury Cylone GT. It was mine, and he bought it from me a few years ago and fixed it up. It is Competition Green, and has a 351-C / C-4, center console with floor shift, hide-away headlights, and a set of Flowmasters. It is so cool when he starts this car. It doesn't just start up like a regular car. You turn the key, the starter barely turns the engine over, and there is a split second pause, and suddenly the thing EXPLODES to life !!! Holy Cow !!

Marty it's not tagged at the moment but it is Titled in Oregon to me.
In Oregon we can use year of manufacture plates, and I've been looking for 1957 Oregon plates instead of the ugly 'special interest' ones.
It runs and drives well.

Needs a rear seal on the transmission, I just have to do it.

Thanks Marty. I like it too. I bought it because the Country Squires are fairly rare, and usually well used. This one as I said is original and in better condition than many five year old cars. The 'wood' should be regrained, but that's quite common, at least it's all there.

I was thinking about changing it to a T85 3 speed with overdrive, but the automatic is probably more desirable these days.
A local company 'Flat-o-matic' has a slick conversion adapter to use a C4 in these which would be good if the car was to be daily driven.
I may have to let it go though to concentrate on some other cars. I have too many.

I also have a '57 Del Rio Ranch Wagon, which is a project car. There is something about the '57 Fords.

MartyO,

You can do Vintage plates in New York, as long as the circa plate matches the year vehicle. I am looking for good, clean correct plates for my 65. I think they were "World Fair" plates or something like that. Dark Blue with Gold letters.

"You Can Do It"

In 1965 the plate was Blue with orange letters and the date stamp was 64 but it came with a reflective red sticker that allowed it to be used for 1965.
I have a very rare vanity plate from 1965. It reads V-101 My Uncle wanted to use it on his 1965 442 but some woman in upstate NY is using it on her 05 Malibu :(

You have to get a plate from the correct year of your car, then call the DMV and they will let you know if the plate is in use. If its not then you have to take a very clear picture of the plate and send it out to Albany. Within a few weeks you'll recieve a registration for the plate.
I did this with the 62 Starfire, If you look at my pics you'll see the bright yellow plates from 1962. 1965 only has one plate.

we took out the 305 and replaced it with a 350(7), heavy cam(lopes like CRAZY!), headers, flows with no cats, 4b edelbrock, roller rockers, torq-c on the tranny and an auburn posi rear end with 3:43 gears. i liked it better with the 3:73 gears but hot damn did the transmission hate it! (3 speed) lol

Nice Monte, good to see a fellow G-body (well technically late A-body I guess) owner post up...sounds like a lot of the mods you've done to yours are things I'm considering for my Malibu (bone stock right now, non-running 267 V8 and TH200...)

thanks, what year is your Malibu?

and funny thing... after reading/posting on this thread and speaking with my friend who got a super cheap and highly efficient Honda. im now thinking about putting a 4-5 speed transmission in the Monte and possibly making it my daily driver. (depending on how much that would cost, of course) any idea on how much that would be? the 3 speed doesnt really cut it with 3:73 gears =/

oh and here are some pics of my favorite Montes ive seen around... theyre inspirations for sure! :bows:

Not one of my cars is finished. Maybe I shouldn't try to work on so many at once.

My 1962 Mercury Meteor, with fuel-injected 5.0L, T5 trans and front disc brakes:

My 1963 Olds F-85 wagon (kustom):

And, lastly, my son Eliot's 1963 Meteor, in which we are installing a 2003 Mustang Cobra IRS:

It's a '79, there is a picture (though very old) on page 2 of this thread. No idea on my part about what that would run for the transmission swap, but it does sound like a good idea...

What great pics, I got rid of all my GM"S, Audi's, Saab's, Porsche's, Roadrunner's, Dart's, Fury's, Coronet's, Demon's, to do my first Ford. I want to do another Panther platform car. Tom

Here is my 30 year old classic, currently getting fuel lines replaced and getting sprayed with black primer. I flog the Marauder, but I beat the living daylights out of this car and it just keeps taking it.

Wow... some really neat cars. Thanks for sharing the pics. Over the years I have owned:

1969 Hurst/Olds, factory air
1972 Hurst/Olds Indy Pace Car convertible
1972 Hurst/Olds hardtop
1972 Hurst/Olds hardtop with factory sunroof
1968 Olds 442 W30 4-speed
1972 Olds Cutlass convertible with factory 455
1970 Olds Toronado GT, 455 with 400 hp
1972 Chevy Monte Carlo 454 (less than 1% of production were 454s)
1966 Pontiac GTO, 4-speed with factory air
plus an assortment of other stuff

Here's a stock GM photo of a 1969 Hurst/Olds like mine. They only made 906 of them, factory air was very rare. Mine also had power windows and tilt wheel. They had a 380hp 455 with TH400 trans, and Hurst shifter. It was a runner!

Here is a picture of the ERA 427 Cobra replicar that my brother & I built in 2003.
It has an all aluminum 468 cid Shelby FE engine with twin Holley 600s on a DOVE tunnel wedge manifold. There's a Richmond Gear 4+1 5 speed behind it.

We took it down to Virginia Int'l Raceway last year for the SAAC 31 national meet.

We both had the opportunity to run her hard during the open track events.
Hoooo Boy does she go when all 8 barrels are open!!!

While at the SAAC meet we met a professional photographer who was researching Cobra kits for his next car project and we told him all about our experience with the ERA kit.

He did not have a Cobra in his photographic portfolio, so he offered to shoot our Cobra and send us the hi-resolution photos.
My brother and I have both had full sized posters made out of the photos.

My 1957 Ford Country Squire. It's an original car, original paint, interior, etc. 292, Auto, Power steering.
Looks like your '57 held up much better than our '58 Ford Country Squire. By 1961, the car had more rust on it than metal. It ran good. Just nothing to hold it together. ;) Switched to Chevy in '62. That experience with the '58 station wagon swore us off Fords until 1994.

I suck on the pictures. PM me if interested. I know how to attach pictures to e-mails.

It's a 1967 convertible that I have owned since 1982. It's all redone as a restomod GTA clone, in Lincoln gold metallic clearcoat w/ white top & GTA stripe. Trans is a mechanical AOD, 9" 3:89 trac lock. Engine is a balanced low compression 302 w/ Demon carb & k-motor manifolds. Intake is S2SM Shelby.

Has Classic Auto Air thru oem outlets, tilt column, Cobra wood wheel, parchment interior and original rear grille. I'm looking for $22k, which should be a reasonable price.

Here's a pic of my 73 Mach 1 that I just picked up in August. It's in pretty good shape now but I want to take it to the next level. I love old cars. If money was no object, I would have a garage full of them.
