so i finally broke down and got new headlight bulbs... well let me tellyou guys, there is no frikin room to work on a marauder anywhere... the shoehorned in motor prevents any ideas of easy accessibility... anyways
my family always told me that my lights were blue... hmm i never noticed anything but white light and when looking at the lights head on i noticed no blue color. well was i wrong. these are the builbs that came out of my MM...

they stunk. cheap korean crap that were bright to look at but didnt project. i now have sylvania silverstars and highly reccomend them. i kept thining my high beams were on because they project so much and they are not a nunsacnce like other aftermarket bulbs when you are coming the other direction and have to look at them. plus they match the foglights perfectly.

also, to clear things up....
The silverstars aren't necessarly BRIGHT...when we had them on next to my thunderbolt with stock bulbs...they were more white than yellow, but not much of a difference in brightness....where the real difference with these is how much light they project onto the road. WOW what a difference!

ive got the silver stars headlamps, fogs, turn signals. I really never could tell the difference. I replaced the stock bulbs in mine with Silverstars and COULD see a little difference. BUT... Now I have a Bi-Xenon HID kit and they make the old filament bulbs look like an oil lamp by comparison. There was a thread here about it and if you're serious about visibility - HID is the only was to go. In fact, they're so damn good that I am putting a set in my 2006 Taurus too. My entire windshield is tinted on both my cars and I can see forever with HID's. See the thumbnail and how dark my windshield is?....

wow man you definately beat me on the windshield tint. mine is only tintind to about 40%... i would like to go darker but i already have enough problems with the police and my other windows being at 3.3% visibility that i dont need to go any more illegal ( legal limit is 35%).
Tinted windshields? Y'all drive at night? Hopefully in front of me... :D

ya we drive, not well but we do.... well thats just driving for me:P....
honestly it isnt that bad driving with the windshield tinted some, thehard part is driving with the side windows blacked out as mine are. you cant see anything that doesnt have a light on it. it feels like you are driving a tunnel and it has a very dark feeling (pun intended). to see around a corner when turning, you have to either know the corner or put that window down cause you wont be able to see it. dangerous.... yes. thats why i understand the laws on how dark the windows can leagally be. however i bought the car with thte windows just like they are and decided to fix it if i found them a hassel or problem. i have adapted and now i am a more careful driver.

My windshield is tinted 35%. As are all my other windows to match the factory tint on my sunroof. If all the windows are up - it feels like there is NO tint on the car because there is no frame of reference. It just looks like an overcast day. Both my cars are tinted like this and I have NEVER been pulled over. My old 1995 Taurus can be compared next to another one here... My 2006 Taurus has an acre of glass and is cool and comfy even in 100 degree heat with a tinted windshield and you cannot even tell, see...

during the day if all windows are up, it does not seem like there is tint inside. you can literally flip off the person in the car next to you and they wouldnot beableto see you. i have not been pulled over either, however when i see a police officer i buzz my windows down or just drive with them down all the time really. now that it is getting chilly though, it wont be too big of a problem... here i come winter car!
heres my 3.3% windows

I'd have to agree HID is the only way to go since I have them now. When I got the car one of the first things I did (after learning it on here lol) was to get the silverstars, to me it was a night and day difference. Then 1.5 yrs later my low beams both went out at the same time and left me sitting at work 11:30pm in a not so nice area. Lucky I always carry whatever old bulbs I replace with me just in case. Oem bulbs were so awful, I actually drove under the speed limit cause I couldn't see that far in front of me lol. I feel a whole lot safer now being able to clearly see more cause half of my driving is at night.

Tinting your w/s is irresponsible.
Why not just paint the windows black and keep all the lite out? Afterall it would look really cool.:D
If you are ever in a serious wreck at nite the possiblity of criminal charges by the local D/A exists.:uzi:

I think the headlight bulb thing depends on your particular eyes. I had put Silverstar Ultra bulbs in before I ruined the front end of the car. Stock bulbs were put in the new front end during the repairs. Now, I feel like I am driving with my head up my butt at night. I have lousy eyesight and found the Silverstars provided a whiter light farther ahead and a wider pattern than the stock bulbs for me. I have been waiting to get a little extra cash to redo Silverstars again. It gives me an extra margin of safety.

I know exactly what you mean and if that is the case maybe you should look into getting a HID kit. I got mine from www.xenonpros.com and they sell the McCulloch kit which is far from any ebay junk kit. Single (low beam only) kit is on sale now for $260 and their Bi-Xenon (low & high beam) is $400 regardless of color temperature. I went with the 6000K, aimed the lights down a little more so I didn't blind everyone and can still see just find. Has helped me out a lot on long dark parts of the highway to see deer way up ahead plus makes reflections on road signs easier to read from farther away.

Pete, get the HID Hi Lo kit from Kenny -$350. they make the Silverstars look like candles, are totally plug and play and paint the road white...bright white with no complains from approaching or in front traffic. You will love them. Dennis

Of all the irresponsible things that people do to cars - tint on the front glass is nothing. Not only does it make the car cooler but also reduces the glare from other vehicles. I don't care if tinted windshields brought the death sentence - I would STILL do it. Keep the ants out of the picnic.

Can't beat that. I didn't have much trouble installing mine besides just having to cut the factory plug wires in the headlamp so I could remove the plugs and then run the HID wires in through the same hole for the clean look.

I think I might put this on the plans for next year. If nothing else just the coolness factor of them turning on.
Anyone have a video of turning on the HID's in a Marauder?

I put in SilverStars within a week or two after buying my MM. Compared to OEM, they do provided better visibilty, imho. I originally used the the sealed beam versions for my old Town Car. I tell you one thing, they made a HUGE difference in that car. One real big plus to them I noticed is better visibilty with night time rain.
Maybe after I build up some cash, I might consider advancing to Xenon lights.

not to sound like an assbut i didNOT tint my windshield... i bought itlike that, and you donot really notice it when driving.... i notice the side windows more thananything, probably because they are over 10 time the limit but i dont have the drive to spend $250 to fix them...
which leads me to HIDs... i would love them, but once again, if $50 silverstars make it awesome for me, why spend $350-400 for them unitl i need them? i have them money, i just dont feel like spending when $50 will get me by just fine.

I have to wait until it gets dark but I'll get turn on, flash low/high beam, w/driving lamps, and drive by for ya today (tuesday night). The turn of effect is pretty cool though, I always get a small grin when other people are around and just stare at it like a deer in headlights lol. I'll post the video as soon as I can.

No I meant like when I am in a parking lot somewhere at night with other people around when I hit the unlock button (leave lights on auto) they click on and everyone just focuses on my car so I grin about it.

Headlights come on when ya hit the keyfob unlock button if ya leave them set to auto? Cool. I need to try that.

Only when it's dark enough for them to come on just like if you were to drive and leave it on auto. It makes it easier to find the car in a crowded not so well lit parking lot at night.
